Thanks for all the comments.  I've actually added buttons, and it's so much cuter!  As for the yarn, I used Soho Summer Jo Sharp DK Cotton.  I wouldn't recommend it.  It is INCREDIBLY splitty!!  Quite frustrating to work with.  I would probably make it in a nice DK weight superwash wool if I were to do it over again.

This is for my friend's brand-spankin'-new baby, Cedar.  I got the pattern from Knitty, and it's called Trellis.  I haven't put buttons on it yet, but I still think it's pretty cute!

Ok...

This guy that works for my husband was singing along to a George Thorogood (? I think) song, and one of the lines is "I gotta rattlesnake for a necktie".  This guy thought it was "I gotta turtlesnake for a necktie".  My husband thought that was pretty funny.  Around that same time I made Sheldon the turtle for one of my friends, and he thought it would be funny if I made the same thing for this guy, but with a snake inside.  Voila!  Turtlesnake!

There is, of course, a long story that goes along with this, but I think we can all just appreciate a turtle snake for what it is...

It's a combo:  Sheldon & Kimberly Chapman's snake.

Isn't this a Knit-a-long?  What other kind would there be?
