1  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: The Amazing Knicker Swap -- Signups CLOSED -- send by Nov 14th on: November 08, 2005 03:25:40 PM
I was thinking of doing half and half too, ppcakes... but I spent a long time making a pattern from a favorite pair today, and just finished sewing it, and I really like it!  It's definitely not perfect, and definitely not "store-bought" quality, but it has a lot more character... so I might make all 6 pairs.  We'll see.  Good luck sewing though... it is frustrating, but practice is helping me a lot.  Practice and pins.  Haha.  Smiley

lol, I have been trying to catch up on other things, kind of forgot about this swap (whoopsie!) and then I remembered it this weekend... but for some reason I thought we were sending out by tomorrow.  thank goodness we're not, haha!  I would have been done, but I have been brainstorming all these awesome ideas that I should actually have time to implement now... yay!   Cheesy

how's everyone else doing?

oooh... gorgeous work!  I love the rich colors of text papers (what is that brown?  is it like a lokta or something?) and the textures of the cover paper and spine.  wonderful first flatback!  I still think they're the hardest.

I received my package from qazicat sometime last week while I was out of town.  I finally got my camera working with my computer again, so here are some pictures of the most beautiful bracelet I have ever owned.  It's turquoise and blue and green beads, some of my favorite colors, and it's the perfect size for my puny wrist!

picture of the bracelet with the card she also made (how did she know I love japanese paper??)

slightly blurry closeup of the bracelet to show the beads and the colors... it's so gorgeous, I wish this was a better picture.  Qazicat, if you have one, post away!

and a collage that demonstrates pretty effectively how difficult it is to photograph a bracelet on your own wrist.  Smiley

Hope this gives some small indication of how awesome this swap package was... I am in love with this bracelet, I already know who the card is for, and I just want to say thank you so much Qazicat -- you have real talent with making jewelry!!

I tried to send this as a PM to everyone, but my internet's being really funky right now, so:

First of all.... I am leaving on a great papermaking adventure to Salt Lake City tomorrow morning.  I had fully intended upon making a pattern before then.. but you know how it goes.  Feel free to craft from alternate patterns or alter storebought undies for me.

Second.. No worries though!  I am only gone for a few days, then I will be back and creating/embellishing undies for each of you well before the deadline.  Just wanted to check in, so you don't think I'm ignoring you.

Third... there is no sizing info I could find for Redpopsicles on that nice html page you set up for us, Rache (thanks, that's a good idea)l.

I will have some internet access while I'm gone, but I won't really be joining the craft-a-long part of the discussion until I'm back (next Monday).

I see that we all have similar preferences.   Long live boyshorts and hipsters.. hehe.  Have fun.. can't wait to get started when I'm home again.

hey ppcakes!  4 it is.  good number.

don't forget, you can always recycle t-shirts... use the blank parts, go for interesting colors, or even use the parts with funny designs on them.  stretchy and comfy and really cheap, if you go to a thrift shop or chop up some old ones you never wear anymore.  Just a thought!
