241  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: what's your favourite knitting tip or trick? on: March 01, 2005 09:53:42 PM
Instead of fishing around inside a skein for the end, possibly pulling out the guts, just turn the whole skein inside-out. You begin by spreading the core with your fingers until it's wide enough, then you just work one end inwards until the whole thing is reversed. It really is amazing.

I am so gonna try that on my next skein...because I ALWAYS pull the guts out!  Angry
242  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: What do you do, other than knit??? on: March 01, 2005 09:48:19 PM
I'm pretty new on here and have only posted one finished knitting project, but I like to do a lot of other crafts too. I recently taught myself to crochet so I'm looking forward to doing more of that. I also like to do scrapbooking, sew, and cross-stich (occasionally!). And I recently bought a book on quilting and I WILL make a quilt one day (like before I die...) Smiley Right now I live in a one-bedroom apartment so the craftiness has to be somewhat limited. I can't wait until I move into a house where I can have a craft ROOM to spread out all my junk. How fun would that be?!?  Cheesy
243  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: come one! come all! post pics of your tattoos! on: February 28, 2005 10:22:03 PM
Here's my first one (I'm gonna get it filled in soon...the guy didn't do a great job) This is on my left shoulder...

and here's my second one (it's on my right shoulder)

Some other people commented that they sometimes forget about their tattoos. I do the same thing! Sometimes I  get out of the shower and see them in the mirror and I'm like wow! I kind of wish I had put them someplace more visible, because I don't wear spaghetti strap tank tops too often. Oh well... Smiley
244  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: Would this be infringing copyright laws....... on: February 27, 2005 09:27:06 AM
I know a guy who wanted to make Dave Matthews Band bracelets (similiar to the Lance Armstrong ones). He had to get permission from the band, otherwise he was told that he would be sued.

246  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Snowflake Illusion Scarf on: February 12, 2005 09:12:39 AM
Here's the website I used to figure out how to make a pattern.  It took a couple of tries but all in all, it wasn't very difficult.

what kind of yarn did you use?

I'm using a really cheap combo of threads...the blue is just Red Heart and the white is Lion's Brand wool-ease.  So this scarf is like $5!  The white yarn has a sparkly fiber in the yarn though, so the scarf sparkles a lot.   I'm not sure you can see that on the picture itself.

Hey I made up this pattern.  I got inspired by SnB, but aliens aren't my thing.

I got inspired by S&B, but I'm not into aliens either, so I made up my own snowflake design.  If anyone wants the pattern, email me and I can send it to you.  I made it in Excel, so it's easily changeable if you want to add/remove something.

250  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: cute storage for knitting needles on: February 08, 2005 09:46:37 PM
I used S&B's pattern to make my own needle case...i modified it a bit and added an extra pouch and flap near the bottom so I could keep my crochet needles in there too.  This was the first difficult sewing project I had ever done and the lines are SOOO crooked.  But that's ok, cuz I like it Smiley  I opened the flaps and folded it in half so you could see all the fabrics I used.
