Good to know about buttons and babies... wouldn't want to hurt the baby :O
I suppose I could replace the buttons with felt!

Hi!
This is my 2nd stuffed thing after my hedgehog pincushion: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=364456.msg4279752#msg4279752
I made him for my friend who is expecting a baby Smiley

He was definitely a challenge and I had some things to learn!  And he is tiiiny, I should have put something in for scale.  He's smaller than my hand!
I used the pattern Myra Masuda's Little Pup.  It was in a calendar but I found it online too here, if you want to make it! Smiley

Anyway, here he is!

And a close up of his cheeky face

I'm pretty proud, he turned out well! Smiley  I can see myself making more stuffed cuteness!

Well, i bought some jacquard dye...here's hoping it works!  It was more expensive than I expected though... I guess it's enough to dye more than one measly shirt!  Oh well Smiley

Thanks for your help.  The dye bath sounds like the best idea yet.  Is Jaqcard a brand?  Also...what's gutta?  Smiley  I guess something you put on to block dye...

Well, it all finally makes sense.  I emailed the creator of the pattern and it turns out the calendar printed it wrong.  The original pattern DOES have seam allowances included.  Can you believe it?? Madness!   Roll Eyes

Thanks for your help... I don't really think you understood my rant though! Lol!  Perhaps I am the only one who knows what I'm talking about!

So my husband left a favourite shirt of his by the window while we were on holiday and the sun bleached it Sad

You can see it on the neckline and shoulder.

I have never dyed anything before, so I was wondering... can I just chuck it in some black dye?  Also, will this ruin the design on the front?  Let me know guys! Smiley

I have been trying to make this little stuffed dog from a calendar.

As you can see, I started a topic cos I'm a beginner and I wasn't sure what I was doing.  Anyway, it says on the pattern "seam allowances not included".  Now, I took this to mean I had to add my own and painstakingly drew my own 6mm extra outline...
So now I'm looking more closely at the pieces and they look a bit "fat"....some things aren't adding up....Okay so now I suspect they ARE included?!  But it doesn't state anywhere on the pattern what the seam allowance is!!

So let's see, if they aren't included that means "seam allowances not included" actually means "seam allowances not drawn on and you need to psychically guess what we made them to be"

Join me in my craft rage!! lol!

Thank you for your help!  I realised what I thought I knew about the ear didn't make sense (ie it would end up inside the dog if I sewed it that way).  Gotgrey's advice makes sense, I now think that the marking on the pattern is wrong...or I'm just looking at it the wrong way!  Haha.

I'm now in the process of adding seam allowances, measuring 6mm from all the lines and joining them up.  What a pain!  But I got some cute fabric to make it with so I'm looking forward to it Smiley

edit: In the process of adding seam allowances, I wasn't sure whether to add seam allowances all the way around the ears.....I add them to the edges I'll sew together...but do I add it to the edge I'm inserting into the seam?

Help appreciated Smiley
