25  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / knitting baskets on: January 03, 2006 12:09:25 PM
before I knew how to knit I remember seeing a pattern somewhere for baskets knit from hemp and rope........  I would really like to make some of these for my porch to organize the family hat, mitten, sunblock, seasonal item stash... Does anyone know what I am talking about/ where to find such a pattern/have ideas for such a project? Also, does knitting with hemp/ rope sound unbearable? I would just break down and buy some but I can't find anything that fits my shelf, looks good, and holds more than two hats............... ............grrrrrr rrrr......help please!
26  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / should I keep them? on: December 25, 2005 09:03:21 PM
my dh bought me a set of knifty knitters for christmas, and I LOVE to knit, but quite frankly don't see the point when I could knit the old fashioned way and return them for something I would really love (like more yarn, or a great book)  BUT.... he tried really hard and it was a very thoughful gift- I don't want to hurt his feelings or worse yet, scare him away fom the craft store forever.....Do any of you  knitters have these and if so are they great or just so-so ?....... I just don't understand what I am supposed to do with them. How are they better than regular old needles?

30  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / thrifty frames on: November 01, 2005 10:40:52 PM
These are some frames I salvaged from my favorite thrift shop--- a little acrylic paint, scrapbook supplies and some modge podge and they have a whole new life. This is my first posted project, not super creative, I know but still fun... and who doesn't like to recycle?
