so I have decided to do some serious destashing/housecleaning. I don't want to be greedy and suck bandwidth on craftster so I thought I would create a blog to post pics of the itens I would like to trade/ get rid of. What's the best way to direct people to it without sounding...I don't know... obnoxious? I would really just like to clean house and possibly get some much needed items for upcoming holiday crafting- the budget is gonna be tight this year, and I'm gonna have a lot of time off thanks to an upcoming surgery so I thought I could get a jumpstart and trade for supplies. Does this sound like anything people would be interested in or am I fooling myself? Iposted an ad in the classifieds, but honestly until now I didn't realize they were even there.
Any other ideas? Comments? Criticisms? Ideas for improvement? blog link is in my sig thanks
So I originally meant this top to be like robotsrock's cool top seen here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=18063.0 but as usual I did'nt bother to follow the measurements and ended up with straps way too long, ....except I think i might like them that way,but I still love the original as well. So craftsters... opinions please...... Smock top.....
the bottom is not hemmed yet, but I think I migh leave it that way since I don't think it will fray. also any suggestions on how to make it better, I'm a big girl and can take constructive criticism. Thanks in advance for your help.
So I made this bag using stargirl's awesome tut http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=49706.0 and decided I needed a planner to match If I had to do it again I would reinforce the handles with cardboard or something as they are a little too floppy for my liking. Also I would be more careful about the measurement as the lining ended up a tad smaller than the shell so it was a b*tch to sew in. Overall though I am quite pleased with it. What do you think?
So I finished this purse ages ago but just got around to putting some handles on it. I am really not all that happy with it and have no idea what to do with it cuz I doubt I will use it , but I thought I would share anyway.
It seems lately none of my projects are turning out like I envision them and I am ending up with lots of stuff I will never use, but can't seem to stop making. I think I may need to seek help................
Recentyly I have been on a sewing kick so I decided to make my 4 yr old some dresses for her birthday. Hope you like..The pics aren't the greatest, but it is near impossible to get a 4 yr old to hold still long enough to take a satisfactory photo, so the will have to make due. this is the dress I made for her to wear to the party, it is a tie back halter if you cant tell. The fabric is so cute, but this photo really doesn't do it justice. I also made a little purse to go with it.
This is made from some cute vintage fabric I found at Goodwill, and trimmed with some vintage green lace I had stashed away. Best part about this fabric was I got about 6 yards for $4.00. I also made myself a skirt and still have a ton left over.
Our dd"s godfather is to be wed In Oct and I would really like to make their gifts (or at least part of it)
Here is my idea so far..... I would like to sew them a monogrammed "Honeymoon tote" and fill it with honeymoon supplies. I would also like this to be the type of bag the bride could use afterwards as a tote/diaper/all purpose bag with her new initials on it.
Ideas I have so far for fillers;
~wine/travel cork screw/glasses ~MR & MRS wine glass charms ~knit bottle cosy ~naughty stuff/condoms/massage oils...help in this dept would be appreciated,things that are fun but not too trashy, or that would embarrass the recipients, though it would probably take a lot to embarrass them ~his &her flip flops (I'm pretty sure they are going to Hawaii)
Also, just good gift ideas in general..
A little info on the happy couple
They are in their early to mid 20's and have a 8 month old son together. He was born and raised in England and is very proud of it, She is from Wisconsin and they currently reside in Texas. He sells time shares/real estate and she is a stay at home Mom.Both big music fans. They really like to travel.I'd say their style is casual/traditional. OK They are really more fun than I am making them sound but this is hard.. I can knit, sew, crochet a little, paint, scrapbook (though this I think someone else will probably do) I am open to any suggestions, the more the merrier. Really, I am willing to tackle any project and I have 6+ months to do so. ANY ideas/help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.Thanks
OK....I just had to share this with somebody, anybody, and since my family is gone for the weekend, it gets to be you nice people here on the spinning board. As long as I can remember my grandma has had a spinning wheel sitting in her living room, she didn't spin, her and my grandpa just collected antiques and they thought it was neat. My grandpa died 4 years ago so my Gram moved in with my uncle and into his basement it went. I never really thought anything of it until sometime last year when I learned to knit. Then I began obsessing about learning to spin and I kept thinking of this perfectly good wheel sitting around not being put to use, but....... I didn't want to just call her up and ask for it cuz I thought that might be rude, so for the last six months or so I have been daydreaming about this wheel (yeah, I know I'm a spaz, but whatever) Last month she came to visit and we were having dinner with my sister when out of the blue she asked if she had anything my sister and I would want when she dies....furniture, jewelry, antiques etc. (we are one of those sentimental families who passes down all these kinds of things)So I piped up and said I would really like the wheel. She started to cry and I thought, oh no what did I do? She told me she had sold the wheel the month before because she thought no one in the family would want it. I know this was my own fault because I waited so long to ask but I was devastated, however, I didn't want to hurt her feelings so I told her it was no big deal. Then I went home and cried and kicked myself for being such an idiot. After moping about it for the last month I decide I will just learn to spin on a drop spindle, so Tuesday I went to the craft store, bought the supplies and made myself one and taught myself to use it. I have been playing with it all week, all the while scheming how I can get a wheel. I figured with mothers day and my birthday coming up I could just tell my family I want donations toward a wheel instead of gifts of any kind and If I keep saving maybe by late summer or fall I could get one. Today my grandma called. she had seen an ad for an estate sale in the paper and called to ask if by any chance they had a wheel.....THEY DID. Then she asked if they would sell it to her before the sale started and they told her sorry, but they could not do that. So she showed up an hour before the sale started, waited outside in the cold ( for those of you who do not think this is a big deal, we live in Wisconsin, It is winter, and my gram has emphysema so bad she requires an oxygen tank) found the wheel and bought it on the spot. She said it is in excellent condition and about 100x nicer than the one she sold. DO I have the coolest grandma on Earth or what? I am so excited I could do cartwheels. Is there such a thing as a yarngasm, cuz I think I had a bout 20. So anyway sorry for such a long winded story, but I HAD TO SHARE, this is like winning the lottery to me
