I'm usually not a fan of knit skirts but that is fantastic. Love the colors and it is so flattering, most knit skirts are not. Well done

17  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / ideas for cancer benefit? on: June 29, 2007 08:25:39 PM
some friends and I are organizing a benefit to help another friend and her husband who was just diagnosed with terminal cancer. They are going through some major financial hardships right now and then they got hit with this. We would like to hold a silent auction and I need ideas for things to craft that people would actually want to bid on. I can sew, quilt, spin, knit, make jewelry and am willing to try anything. I just need to raise some money. Any ideas. Also for the benefit itself we were thinking about a chili feed/ auction/ live music to follow. Does anyone have any other ideas? I've never done this sort of thing before and don't really know where to start. ANY advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
18  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Re: Hope this goes here sad news want to make something for mgrs baby. on: June 29, 2007 08:11:27 PM
maybe you could have the people that knew hin write letters to the baby about how they knew her dad/ stories/memories of him and what made him special to them .You could then put them in a scrapbook or a decorated box and presnt it to her and her mom. I saw this in a magazine once, people did this for the son of a soldier who was killed in Iraq and I really thought it was a special way to memorialize someone.
Another idea is a photo quilt if you sew and could get pictures, I don't know how hard this would be since you are not all that close to the family. Hope these provide some inspiration, even if you choose to do something else. So sorry to hear of your loss. Good bosses and friends are hard to come by.
19  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / making laundry fun on: June 17, 2007 07:05:22 PM
ok, maybe that's a slight exaggeration...can laundry ever really be fun? Here's a clothespin bag I pieced together out of scraps from the ladybug quilt

I don't know this is the right board, but I did quilt it.

I love the quilt, I wish I had the patience to piece together all those little squares. It looks fantastic, I would be overjoyed to get a gift like that, I'm sure it will be very well received. I really enjoyed your blog too, I'm keeping my eye on you Wink
