So I am really excited about completing my first cross stitch. Thanks to fleagirl who shared the link to the stitchpoint.com text generator! It inspired me to finally make one of my favorite sayings into a cross stitch.
Without the frame ( not the best photos but I couldn't wait to share)
A little back ground:
A water haul is when you set out your net and it comes up empty. This saying comes from a hilarious blog(now dormant) written by a woman in Southeast Alaska. Read the article here: http://dustybee.wordpress.com/2009/03/27/spawn-alert/
I feel in love with the saying and use it quite often. And because I fish (commercially), I love the fishing reference. It is one of two bits of advice, I like to to pass on to new women in town. I am hoping to make the other ( Don't sleep on the boat, unless you work on the boat) into a cross stitch too.
I am pretty pleased with how it turned out. Though I must admit that I started in on the text without reading up on cross stitching. So, my threads do not cross the same way in the text. The cork line and corks are done properly. I was just too lazy to undo and then redo all text. And the other thing is I wish I had used a darker color for the corks. I am debating if I want to color them yellow. Thoughts?
