11  CRAFTSTER CRAFT CHALLENGES / Craftster Craft Challenge Theme Ideas, Etc. / curtain recon challenge.. on: August 28, 2010 05:14:09 PM

I know there's been the bedsheet recon, But what about a curtain recon challenge?
Not just for clothing of course.

It would result in a wider range of crafts, because there's so many types of curtains,

  • lace curtains
  • sheer curtains
  • thick curtains
  • thin curtains
  • tulle curtains
  • cotton curtains
  • linen curtains
  • Hourglass Curtains
  • Priscilla Curtains
  • ruffle curtains

...and a bunch more.
I would assume it would be best if it wasn't limited to clothes, so we could make other things too.
I'm currently working on a curtain recon,
from the (very large)leftovers of a curtain that was too long and was cut!
Any one else open for this?
12  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / through the fan, the light reflects, leaving and array of dazzling colours. on: July 31, 2010 07:16:46 PM
my second paper doll face.
100% paper. Excluding foam tape and glue.
My next scene will be in a trinket box, I think.
this one is very different than my first.
I did her hair in individual strands, I don't really like the way it looks, but overall it's okay!
I've improved, i suppose, and next time I'll do layering for the face.
The fan was hard to make, I used foam tape instead of my usual foam squares, because i *thought* it was thicker, and it was harder to use.
I've kept with the them of only one face feature, lashes this time.
she's bigger than my neon fire one.

here's the two them together: (bad picture, I know)

enjoy!^^
(if you don't, I'll eat you! nom nom nom!)
13  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / peek-a-boo? lunging angel atc. on: July 30, 2010 05:21:46 PM
first here's a teaser:

here's what it looks like closed-up, lame right?

there's an easel:

fold the easel out, lift the flap:
an angel lunging at a heart

the heart is suspended with fishing line.

close up on the angel and his wings:

the background was a postcard:

thanks for looking! this was my first atc!

14  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / She's always buzzing just like Neon, Neon. on: July 30, 2010 05:14:59 PM
Tonight she's out to lose herself
And find a high on Peachtree Street
From mixed drinks to techno beats it's always
Heavy into everything....

...She's always buzzing just like
Neon, neon
Neon, neon

Who knows how long, how long, how long
She can go before she burns away?

so, that was my inspiration, song's by john mayer.
i got the idea at 4 am! i only fell asleep at two, but the dog kept me up till 5, and when i finally fell asleep, I had nightmares of burnings mansions and faceless people. (My family! with no face!)
this is 100% paper. Excluding glue and foam squares.
My first paper project other than your average cards/scrapbooking.
this was done in many, many, many layers, of tiny little spikes. some layers pop out with foam!
It was difficult to cut, especially since i use scissors and not a knife, and my arms and shoulders are REALLY sore from yesterday. (martial arts, though i don't know why, we only did kicks?)
it's pretty small actually, slightly taller than your average gluestick.

close-ups:

(the light orange is textured.)

W.I.P:

EDIT: I've decided to leave her as is. Thanks for the help!
now I need your opinion, should i add eyes? a nose? leave it be?

and should i add something to the neck? the top of a shirt, made of ripped washi paper, so it ends more smoothly than a cut?

comments and constructive crits. welcome.

15  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / big, fat & blue totoro hat. on: July 22, 2010 02:55:35 PM
i made this when i was eleven, it was my first project on the machine I made the pattern myself.
it's partially lined (just the ear flaps). The eyes are shank buttons.
i stuffed milk carton plastic in the ears.
it DOES have strings hanging down, you just can't see them. On the ends are blue paws! it's cute because you can make him go "peek-a-boo!"
bad pics.
I have no model. so it's lying flat.

16  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / what happens when you put a bunny in the microwave? on: July 22, 2010 02:53:22 PM
yep.
this one microwaves to be warm, I embroidered the features, it's a bunny, sewn by machine:

this is a tofu, it also microwaves, sewn by machine:
it's a bit dirty, sorry!

and a tiny bunny, about 5  cm tall. He was supposed to have small eyes, but i cut the hole too big. Sewn by machine (hard!)

hope you like!^.^
17  FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Completed Projects / cardboard loom handbag. on: July 22, 2010 02:49:55 PM
I'm in a weaving class. We made this, I just finished it today. It's made in a cardboard loom, it's real easy, just time consuming because you have to pack down the yarn so tight.
I'd offer a tutorial if I get enough requests.

enjoy!^^
18  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / i worry, i throw my fear around.. on: July 20, 2010 02:39:19 PM
..But this morning, there's a calm I can't explain.
The rock candy's melted, only diamonds now remain.
(guess which song?)

yep. Hi! i make miniatures and dollhouse items. Well, i do other things too but still.
um.. these are some recent items I've made that involve clay. I use cold porcelain clay.
did i ever tell you guys my jawbreaker theory?
no i didn't. I should do that sometime.
I'm weird. i deal with it. You should too!  Cheesy
I have allergies, so I'll have a lot of projects to post because i stay inside a lot.
I play 2 instruments, and will learn 1 more plus, i already know another one.
2+1+1=4!
so that's four instruments.
I'm a writer.
so i talk peculiarly.
I will be famous one day.
Now i have to figure out for what? Shocked

the guitar is smooth in real life, but i have a pooey camera.

here's a tofu burger

Enjoy! ^^
