11  Re: Halloween Costume-Along? (2010) in Craftalongs by kunoni on: September 23, 2010 10:06:40 PM
may I still join?
here's my idea so far: a brown bear?
I'll make it kigurumi pajama style, but with a mix of romper and bloomers?
sleeves will be large and gathered at bottom and legs will be large and gathered at bottom?
the idea of kigurumi is that it's baggy in the stomach/leg area, so the legs and torso blend in, making it look chibi, with short legs. I'll use that.
here's my (gross) sketch:

I didn't want to do a full kigurumi, since it's a look I can't pull off. The brown part would be brown fur or fleece.
i'm still iffy though. I wanted to be ayu from Kanon, but decided no because she's normal looking other than the tiny wings on her backpack, And the people handing out candy wouldn't realize it's a costume and won't give me some. Tongue
what you you guys think?

12  bubbly face in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by kunoni on: September 22, 2010 06:02:50 PM
so.. I made another paper cut out, hoping it'd turn out better than my last one?
bubbly hair, she's not going up in flames, but in bubbles.. pop pop pop

I actually planned to make one with a butterfly garden in her hair, but I misplanned and had to stop midway and throw
it out.
But I made this!
100% paper, excluding glue and foam squares.
Slightly taller than an average gluestick, but bigger than my neon fire one.
Free hand drawn then cut out.
almost all of the circles were hand-cut, only the largest circles at the bottom
and the tiny ones were punched out!
With tiny nail scissors. No knife. Ouch.
here you go:

enjoy!
it was made in one sitting.

14  curtain recon challenge.. in Craftster Craft Challenge Theme Ideas, Etc. by kunoni on: August 28, 2010 05:14:09 PM

I know there's been the bedsheet recon, But what about a curtain recon challenge?
Not just for clothing of course.

It would result in a wider range of crafts, because there's so many types of curtains,

  • lace curtains
  • sheer curtains
  • thick curtains
  • thin curtains
  • tulle curtains
  • cotton curtains
  • linen curtains
  • Hourglass Curtains
  • Priscilla Curtains
  • ruffle curtains

...and a bunch more.
I would assume it would be best if it wasn't limited to clothes, so we could make other things too.
I'm currently working on a curtain recon,
from the (very large)leftovers of a curtain that was too long and was cut!
Any one else open for this?

15  Re: zombie chicken campfire - need materials advice in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions by kunoni on: August 26, 2010 06:13:32 PM
I would think making fabric logs, by using long rectangles sewn into a tube with circles on the end.  and put them in a star shape like this: *
sew 'em, then take 3 or six of these (can't remember how many..oops)

and sew them together
to make tear-shapes.
then make about three of them,
then add little flames in other colors and sew in top of the logs.
And attach little tealights between the logs with the glues gotgrey suggested?
just my thoughts...

16  through the fan, the light reflects, leaving and array of dazzling colours. in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by kunoni on: July 31, 2010 07:16:46 PM
my second paper zombie chicken face.
100% paper. Excluding foam tape and glue.
My next scene will be in a trinket box, I think.
this one is very different than my first.
I did her hair in individual strands, I don't really like the way it looks, but overall it's okay!
I've improved, i suppose, and next time I'll do layering for the face.
The fan was hard to make, I used foam tape instead of my usual foam squares, because i *thought* it was thicker, and it was harder to use.
I've kept with the them of only one face feature, lashes this time.
she's bigger than my neon fire one.

here's the two them together: (bad picture, I know)

enjoy!^^
(if you don't, I'll eat you! nom nom nom!)

18  She's always buzzing just like Neon, Neon. in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by kunoni on: July 30, 2010 05:14:59 PM
Tonight she's out to lose herself
And find a high on Peachtree Street
From mixed drinks to techno beats it's always
Heavy into everything....

...She's always buzzing just like
Neon, neon
Neon, neon

Who knows how long, how long, how long
She can go before she burns away?

so, that was my inspiration, song's by john mayer.
i got the idea at 4 am! i only fell asleep at two, but the dog kept me up till 5, and when i finally fell asleep, I had nightmares of burnings mansions and faceless people. (My family! with no face!)
this is 100% paper. Excluding glue and foam squares.
My first paper project other than your average cards/scrapbooking.
this was done in many, many, many layers, of tiny little spikes. some layers pop out with foam!
It was difficult to cut, especially since i use scissors and not a knife, and my arms and shoulders are REALLY sore from yesterday. (martial arts, though i don't know why, we only did kicks?)
it's pretty small actually, slightly taller than your average gluestick.
piccies:

close-ups:

(the light orange is textured.)

W.I.P:

size reference:

EDIT: I've decided to leave her as is. Thanks for the help!
now I need your opinion, should i add eyes? a nose? leave it be?

and should i add something to the neck? the top of a shirt, made of ripped washi paper, so it ends more smoothly than a cut?

comments and constructive crits. welcome.

19  big, fat & blue totoro brain protector. in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by kunoni on: July 22, 2010 02:55:35 PM
i made this when i was eleven, it was my first project on the machine I made the pile of flesh myself.
it's partially lined (just the ear flaps). The eyes are shank buttons.
i stuffed milk carton plastic in the ears.
it DOES have strings hanging down, you just can't see them. On the ends are blue paws! it's cute because you can make him go "peek-a-boo!"
bad pics.
I have no model. so it's lying flat.
