I sewed up a buck from Sublime Stitching for my dear friends (ha!). Backstory: we all lived in Japan together (some Japanese, some American) and when 5 of us moved back to the states (and back to Chicago) over a period of a few years, we began calling our selves "deer 5"... in Japanese,
shika is deer and
go is five... shikago = Chicago = deer 5. Yay word play!
Anyway! It was my first time trying crayon tinting... I'm pleased with how it turned out! I used 3-4 strands of DMC, backstitch, satin stitch and a few french knots and it's sewn on an old cotton pillow case.

Close up... I feel like I lost my satin stitch mojo with these leaves! I ripped out stitches more than once, but I felt like I just couldn't get them smooth. maybe it was the shape of the leaf?

but, I liked how most of the details turned out nonetheless

and here he is all framed up in his new home!

as always, comments and critiques are always welcome!
