I'm so stoked for the premier of her show tonight!! I only wish I would have tried out for it. I know I'm not the only one out there who loves "The Apprentice" series. So fess up! Who else has their VCR's set?

Ooo Ooo also does anyone know anybody who did make it on the show? Our someone who tried out? That would be fun to hear about too.

14  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / New book totes and a few anything pouches **** Image Heavy **** on: September 07, 2005 02:55:51 PM
Here are two new totes I made for an up coming craft show. I call them "book" totes because they are the perfect size for magazines and books. They come in super handy when your coming home from the library and have a load of books to carry.

These pouches are also for that same show

15  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / **UPDATED w/ tutorial** Funky Retro Pin Cushion on: August 24, 2005 12:45:15 PM
Here's an idea that I came up with while trying to figure out what to do with all these coffee mugs I had (I don't drink coffee so I really don't know why I bought them in the first place) This is just a proto-type I plan on posting more photos of the updated cushion. But here's the just of it. One funky mug plus some extra stuffin and matching material equals one crazy pin cushion

I don't think I'll make them with this type of fur maybe something alittle shorter.
Plus I thought I'd add a magnet to the bottom of the mug for easy pin pick up.

I want to sell these at an up coming craft show and was wondering what you all thought I should charge for them. I was thinking around $5.

****UPDATE****

Here's another one I made for that same craft show. I keep forgeting to take a photo of the magnet on the bottom. Oh well maybe next time.

***** TUTORIAL UPDATE  *****
I has this tutorial on the fourth page but moved it here so you could find it easier.
Enjoy!!

Here's how I assembled all the innards.
Fabric
     |
Lots of Stuffing
     |
Foam Ball

I pull the fabric down over the ball then use the straight pins and attach the fabric to the ball.

Most of the time the ball fits snugly into the mug. If it doesn't I just kinda crunch the sides a tad till it does fit.
(Be careful not to try to jam the ball into the mug... I broke a mug and almost cut my self doing this.)

You could use hot glue to attach the ball to the inside of the mug to make sure it stays secure.

And thanks so much for all the great comments!!
16  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Funky Tie Coin Purse on: August 24, 2005 12:32:41 PM
I found these great ties at a local thrift store and couldn't pass them up, so here's what I did with them.
These are the smaller end of the ties I'm going to use the larger end for a hand bag.

I'm thinking about selling a few of these at an up coming craft show and I was wondering what to charge for them.
The ties were a dollar a peice so I think the minimum I should charge whould be three dollars but then are they even worth that much?
17  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / HELP! Flat Iron + Dyed Hair = Dull Faded Hair on: August 01, 2005 08:41:01 AM
Here's a time line of what has happened. I got my hair cut on a Thursday and bought a flat iron (Conair $15.00) to style it with. Then Saturday morning I dyed it black and it looked really great ( it was a fantastic dark black that when the light hit it just right it had a blue hue to it ) Well we were going out that night and after I used the flat iron to style my hair I noticed that it was a dull black color.... Then Sunday morning after getting ready for church I could see some brown show threw.  So today is Monday and I'm wondering what is the cause for the rapid loss of hair color. It could be many factors....
1.) The flat iron was too hot??
2.) I used the flat iron too soon after dying my hair?
3.) The color I used from the store was too cheep?

I dunno...... I love the way my hair looks after I use the flat iron but I have to have my hair dyed. Has anyone else had this problem??? What can I do to prevent it from happening again??? Help Please.

Here's what the hair style looks like if you wanted to know
18  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Retro Dining Room Decor w/ Lots'a Photos!!!! on: June 24, 2005 12:14:33 PM
I have been working on the red cabinet in the corner for ever and we finally got done restoring it and moved it up to the dining room. It matched really well with all the other retro red in there! I just couldn't be more happy with it. Plus its really neat to have it in our first house cause my mom and dad had it in their first house too!!!

The table we got for $80 at a local Goodwill and the chairs I got for $10 each at The Salvation Army, I still have one more to finish. The Microwave cart I picked up at an antique store downtown (Omaha, NE) for $25. So Total this room cost me about $180 with all the material and paint for the cabinet.

Here's the Kitchen I really haven't started that room yet, I think we'll paint it red with maybe a black and white check border around the countertops.
I'll have to post picture when I finished with that too.

I'm kinda stumped on what color to paint the dining room walls. Originally we wanted an olive green color but I think that'll look too much like Christmas. Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Oh our living room is directly in front of the dining room (kinda behind where the dining room photo was taken) so the one wall runs the entire width of the house and our living room furniture is black leather if that helps.

20  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Did you make stuffed animals in school? on: April 19, 2005 12:10:27 PM
When I was in middle school (1995 ish) we had to take a sewing class where we made pillows and all sorts of stuff. The teacher had a book/catalog that you could order kits out of. The kits were for anything from flannel shorts to stuffed animals to draw string backpacks. Anyhow the kits for the stuffed animals came with all the fabric, eyes, stuffing everything you would need to make it, I think the pattern was even printed on the fabric all you had to do was cut it out.
Does anyone know where I could find kits like this or somewhere that offers a catalog like this??
Or if you remember doing this what did you make?

Thanks! Smiley
