1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My first skirt! on: March 19, 2011 09:52:20 PM
So here's the first skirt I've ever made! It only took about an hour and a half start to finish!
I've only made bags in the past and this was pretty simple for me.

It's basically two rectangles with a pocket at the top for the elastic waist.
I think the next skirt I make I'll attempt to put in pockets.
Hope you like it!

The floral patter is browns and grays with a bit of mustard.

Detail of top stitching.

3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Happy Housewife on: August 30, 2009 09:28:04 PM
This is an embroidery piece I did for an up coming "Labor" Day art show. I designed the pattern in Freehand on my computer then transfered it over to the fabric with graphite paper. It took me a few hours a day over a week and a half of time. I'm really pleased with the way it came out the only part I'm not happy with is the small circles at the bottom this was the first time I've attempted something so detailed. I also got the frame at a local shop and spray painted it a high gloss red to up the Kitch factor.

Hope you enjoy it!

Started with my pattern (I cut out the dots b/c I had to get it turned in for the show and ran out of time)

I actually thought about maybe doing all the presidents.... or maybe a series of a few.
5  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Evil is powerless if the good are unafraid... Ronald Reagan on: January 09, 2009 08:55:00 PM
Here is a portrait I embroidered of President Ronald Reagan.
The company I work for was having an art show for it's employees and this is the piece I entered.
For my first portrait I think it turned out pretty well.
I made the pattern on the computer using Freehand and a photo I found of him.
The frame was from a thrift store and spray painted with a high gloss red paint.
I'm really pleased with how it turned out!!

7  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Re: My "Hip to be Square" Bathroom on: April 12, 2007 06:35:39 AM
Purplexime: The squares actually aren't perfect. They match the kinda wonkey squares on the shower curtain. I free handed them and then used regular latex wall paint to fill them in. I got a quart of each color and it was the perfect amount.

Thanks for all the great comments!!

Now I just need to paint the rest of my house. Smiley
