2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Illiamdra Poppet on: December 19, 2011 02:41:34 PM

All the beautiful Poppets up hear inspired me to make one myself, and i decided for my first run i would make Illiamdra the inspiration for my screen name Smiley

She is a DnD avatar of mine, a Dark elf or Drow who has broken free of the underdark and become a priestess of the moon.

i still have to decide on her gown, and her eye balls are delayed because of the Christmas season lol but she wanted her pictures up so hear they are.

she didn't like having her picture taken in the nude so i fashiond a simple baithing suit for her until her real dress is ready Smiley
3  COOKING / Dessert / Doll Cake :) ***Pic heavy *** on: November 23, 2011 02:12:38 AM

My Neice decided for her 6th birthday that i was going to make her a doll cake Smiley
now i have seen many of these done before and my mother even made one for me. but I love making dresses so i kind of had to over do it Smiley

Step one bake your cake i made one 10 inch round for the base
one 8 inch round and one bowl for the skirt
i used butter-cream icing and home made marshmallow fondant.
found recipe here http://candy.about.com/od/fondantcandyrecipes/r/mm_fondant.htm very very easy ! and you can add flavor to it Smiley even plain tastes WAY better the normal fondant.

bottom round covered with butter cream icing then blue fondant.

Dirty Ice the skirt and let cool if working in the summer Smiley

place your 'underskirt fondant color over the round and smooth gently with hands to cover bumps.

Use fondant to make a bodice upon the doll and place into hole make sure your bodice color matches your top skirt color. Smiley
~Cut a large Cheshire cat smile shape out of your over mid skirt fondant color and drape over skirt around dolls hips
(i used a stamp to get an embossed look into the fondant before draping it on the doll.

repeat last step with top skirt color using a smaller 'smile' cut. dust your embosses with powdered sugar Smiley
add any embellishments you want at this point the doll is done.

4  COOKING / Dessert / Mint Chocolate "NO BAKE" Cheese Cake! on: November 23, 2011 12:49:46 AM

This started as wanting a mint chocolate pie but not liking the mint pudding fill every recipe called for.

~ Chocolate crumble crust
(i used store bought for time issues but you can make it yourself just like you would press a graham cracker crust)
~ 1 pkg of cream cheese softened
~ 2 cups of heavy whipping cream
~ 1/2 cup of sugar
~ 1 tsp of vanilla
~ 1 cup of chocolate ganache
~ 1 tsp of peppermint flavor
~ green food die
~ handful of mint chocolate candies (andies candies work well )

1. Pour a thin layer of chocolate ganache over the bottom of the crust, place in fridge to cool.
2. Pour Whipping cream into a chilled bowl, add sugar and vanilla, then beat until stiff peaks form.
3. Fold half of your whip cream into the softened cream cheese, add the mint flavor and some green food coloring. (if the mint flavor gives you a bitter taste add a bit more sugar Smiley )
4. Pour cream cheese mix into pie crust.
5. Spoon left over whip cream on top.
6. Use some crushed mints or chocolate mints as decorative garnish on top of your pie. (i also swirled some of the chocolate ganache into the whipped cream.
7. Let cool for about 2 hours before serving, can also be served frozen Smiley
8. ENJOY!!

5  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Snake Skin Corset and matching wrist cuffs on: November 12, 2011 12:55:39 AM
So I put together a corset and matching cuffs for the Apocalyptic fashion swap and i love them so much. i have yards and yards of the Faux Snake skin material left i think i might make me a gown out of if...

the corset is a simple under bust corset. i made it reversabul with a soft gray brown satin on the back side. and i found that a big of wire ties (thick zip ties) work just as good for boning and are much cheaper to buy in mass quantities...

This first picture is a semi side shot to show of the clasp of the belt which i also made. took me more time to clasp and wire together the chain on that belt then it took to make the entire corset lol!

A shot of the back
I left it open

and these are the Cute little Cuffs i made to go with them. it was my first attempt at layering lace :S

When i saw this contests i new i had to join up. this is my first one to enter here, and i know my Sister would realy love her sewing machine back lol.  Any way... I Fell in love with steam punk this year when i did my first Crafster swap, it was the small steam punk swap by Alchamy513, it was then i decided i want to make my own steam punk costume and what better base to start with then Victorian late 1880's Smiley

Sorry about it being on the dress form i took pictures yesterday and i still hadn't finished the hemming and a few seams on the underskirt so please ignore the pins Smiley i shall modify the thread to have a pic of me in the costume after my party tonight Smiley Sorry the pics of me in the costume are with out hte jacket because it sufferd a miner rip and i haven't fixed it yet Smiley

Presenting Steam Punk Victorian!

And a few Detail shots. the different color panels on the jacket was a mistake but i kinda fell in love with it that way Smiley, the back of the jacket needs still to have grommets put in for lacing (i ran out Smiley )

A few Shots with out the Jacket Smiley to show off the bustle

and the Mini Top hat i made to go with the outfit Smiley

I also put little pearl beads on the inside of the bustle ruffs no idea why you can't see them bu i like the idea of them being there.

I hope you like it as much as i do Smiley and thank you all who may vote for me
8  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Discussion and Questions / Help me find a New machine on: October 07, 2011 01:09:30 PM
So i have been looking up and pricing different embroidery Machines. Though i have never used or even seen how to use a machine to embroider (im kinda old school) so i have no idea what to look for in a good one. Have saved up a good chunk of money and i have kinda been leaning towards the Singer Futura CE-250  the 150 is almost the same but it doesn't come wit the software that lets me turn clip art into patterns so i can't add my own unless i get that extra software, the 250 comes with it. however the best price i can find on it is 650 any one have any advice on another machine that will allow me to add my own designs to the patterns?
9  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Idea for a Black and white quilt what do you think? on: April 05, 2011 06:24:29 PM
I have wanted to do a black and white quilt for some time now and I think I finally blocked out a pattern to use.
However since non of my family or close friends are quilters I wanted to ask if you think it's to much? And should I stay true black and white or go with shades or patterned black?

10  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / HELP, I have Quilters block!! on: April 04, 2011 11:00:40 AM
Spent all afternoon going threw my books looking for a pattern to use on a quilt for my soon to be 6 year old Niece and I realized I have nothing that is kids oriented. Lots of patterns that I could use but non that scream little girl! Can any one help me or have a pattern that fits what I might be looking for?
