1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Recycled 3 shirts into super cute rocker purse on: November 14, 2010 09:28:57 PM
One T-Shirt & 2 button up shirts later and this is what I came up with.  Just like my other ruffly purse, I sewed gathered ruffles on the front.  I utilized as much fabric from the shirts as I could.  What do you think?

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Recycled Goodwill Purse to Scrappy Bag on: November 11, 2010 10:13:13 PM
I found someone online that make a recycled scrap bag using strips of fabric tied into sections on one of those store bought crochet type bags.  This picture does it no justice as it's cuter in person but I think it's a cool technique I wanted to share.  Her blog tutorial is at http://ohsohappytogether.blogspot.com/2009/08/todays-tutorial-rag-bag.html.  And here is the one I whipped up this evening.

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Sheet + 2 T-Shirts + Ribbon = 1 Cute Purse on: November 08, 2010 09:33:00 PM
This purse was made using brown fabric from a sheet I got last year from a friend to make a palm tree costume for my son. I also cut up two t-shirts & ribbon. I had a design in my head for the shape, cut out paper and then cut out the sheet fabric. Then cut the two t-shirts into strips. Two of the long strips were gathered to create a ruffled effect and sewn to the outside of the purse front, then ribbon at the top of the patterned t-shirt fabric. First I was going to attach some wooden recycled purse handles but ended up making loops for straps to go through and used the remainder of the 3 fabrics & braided them through to become two straps/handles for the purse. It is lined with the same brown sheet fabric as well.

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Second attempt at apron on: November 08, 2010 09:30:01 PM
Here is my 2nd apron using the same pants from before, just instead of one leg, I used the front of the pants with pockets.

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Capri pants & Pillow case turned Waist Apron on: November 04, 2010 09:16:56 PM
So I took the leg of a pair of khaki green capri pants that didn't fit anymore, a flannel pillow case in animal print I never used & some consigned ribbon and made this super cute waist apron.  It's one of many things I'm sewing for America Recycles Day at work in about a week.  Let me know what you think.  Thanks.

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Another CD Case on: April 15, 2010 11:29:41 PM
Here’s another CD case that’s a bit different in functionality and holds a whopping 8 CD’s.  I used an old pair of jeans (actually same pair that I used on the last one), some extra fabric from a purse I made, a couple red buttons & some elastic to hold it closed.  I also added my JJ Janet’s Junk tag to the back.  I reinforced the whole thing to make it stiff using a couple cardboard cut outs from our soda 12 packs boxes.  It was the coolest thing to use and I just cut it to size and sewed it in.  I’m lovin’ this one and am hoping to make a few more the next few days.  What do you all think?  Comments are welcomed! Smiley  Thanks.

7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / CD Case on: April 12, 2010 09:55:49 PM
I'm making some things for our Earth Day event at work in a couple weeks and this is one of the things I'm going to make a handful of for it.  It's a CD case made of old worn out jeans (only had to use one leg) and some old fabric scraps from a purse I made a while ago.  It has a velcro closure too.  The other ones I make will hold more than 4 CD's though.  I will also need to make the pockets on each page bigger so the CD's won't fall out so easily.  Enjoy!

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Clutch for teacher on: March 13, 2010 05:36:20 AM
It was teacher appreciation week and I made this clutch for my sons 1st grade teacher.  I asked her what her favorite colors were and she said green & purple.  So I used a beautiful green/brown fabric for the outside and green for the inside.  The bird applique on the outside was handmade by me and is the same green fabric as the lining and the eye is a purple jewel that I glued on.  And a clutch wouldn't be complete without a wristband.  Here it is without further adeu...my first ever clutch! Smiley

9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Tennessee Bag, Denim & orange cotton quilted on: March 01, 2010 09:02:06 PM
Lotsa pics...My friend liked my brown bag so much she requested I make her one just like it but with a big orange T on the front for Tennessee.  I made the pattern for the bag myself just by what kind of style I wanted & size.  I handmade the applique using the fabric for the lining, the outer fabric is a stretchy blue denim with a peek-a-boo bit of orange on the top end of the zipper and the lining is orange & quilted with soft fleece to give it stability & softness.  Two denim inner pockets as well and I added my label.  What do you think?   Kiss

10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My first glasses cases on: February 22, 2010 09:12:39 PM
Well I took my first stab at making a couple glasses cases.  Overall they will work but I need to work on the sizes and figure out how to get the fabric on the inside of the envelope style one to not be rippled inside.  Let me know what you think and if you know of any links to some good tutes that will help me out.  I just kinda winged it by placing my glasses on some paper and sketching a pattern out.  Thanks for looking.
