1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Where can I purchase sewing pattern paper? on: May 24, 2012 09:53:43 PM
I am fairly new to sewing, but I do want to make my own yoga/gaucho pants for the dance classes that I take. I saw a tutorial on threadbangers that I thought was decent/doable. I just don't know where I can get tracing paper. I looked at Joann's last week, but all they had was small stuff - nothing big enough for a pair of pants. Do you buy yours at a brick and mortar store or online?
Thanks!
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My new apron! on: May 24, 2012 06:58:31 PM

Just got done making this one the other day. Super cute fabric!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Luna Moth Shawl on: July 30, 2010 08:56:47 PM
Here is my almost real lace shawl. I call it my almost real lace shawl because I used fingering weight yarn instead of lace weight yarn. I loved the pattern. No errata and it was free. You can't beat that! I made this for my best friend, Dee, as a gift for her when she was recovering from surgery. I used Dream in Color Starry in Prairie Grass. Loved the colorway.
4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Mmmmmm.....stuffed kangaroo on: July 30, 2010 05:03:52 PM
This is the first stuffed toy I ever made. I had a few "issues" with it. Looks fine if you run by it at 60 mph. But, I keep seeing my flaws. The nose is too big. The forepaws are not level. The head looks like it is staring off in one direction - as opposed to being on straight. The eyes are a little too high on the head. Everyone I show this to says it is adorable and says that my 3 year old niece is not going to see any flaws at all. She'll just be happy to have a handmade kangaroo.
I plan on making a super small version of this kangaroo and putting it in the pouch as a joey. Then, I'll give it to my niece. I hope to learn from my mistakes and make a better looking joey.
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My first apron! Simplicity 2626 on: July 18, 2010 10:23:16 AM
I made my first apron yesterday and today. Took a long time since I'm really not all that great at sewing. It was my second time actually following a pattern for any kind of sewing. I'm pretty happy with it. It is for my 3 year old niece's birthday. She will also get a knitted kangaroo, but so far, I only have various appendages of that and no body.
6  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Happy Alien Scarf on: July 15, 2010 08:59:31 PM
So this is my Alien Illusion Scarf that I made. I changed the last alien to have a happy face....just because.
7  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / Hi from Illinois! on: July 14, 2010 09:17:13 PM
Hi everyone. I'm Jenny and I'm a yarnaholic. I started crafting with a little bit of crochet, got bit by the quilting bug, then got into knitting. I've been knitting for about 5 years now and am obsessed. I kind of ignored my quilting for a while, but recently dusted off my sewing machine and got back to work. Now, I am getting all sorts of ideas from Craftster about making bags and aprons and such. I can't wait till weekends come around so that I actually have a nice block of time to just craft away.
I'm glad Craftster is here to feed my addiction creative spirt.
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Apron swap? on: July 14, 2010 04:50:39 PM
I know I am brand spanking new here and I can't participate in a swap until I'm a month old (and have 15 posts), but I just want to guage interest.
Would anyone be interested in doing an apron swap? I've been quilting for a number of years, but am fairly new to actual sewing. I bought an apron pattern and fabric and am so extremely geeked for making my first apron. If it turns out well, I will make more. I think the apron really needs to make a comeback! (especially vintage aprons).
So...who is interested?
