1  My First Doily in Crochet: Completed Projects by Brookie5686 on: July 03, 2013 06:23:51 PM
I've been meaning to post this for a while. This is my first doily. I made it as a late Christmas present.  It didn't flatten out so nicely, I'm sure it's a tension issue.  I spent between 24 and 30 hours on this piece.  I'm pleased with it, even if the tension is a little off.

2  Altered Altoid Tin - Robot in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Brookie5686 on: September 06, 2012 06:15:32 PM
So I've seen lots of amazing altered tins on here and wanted to try one of my own.  I read this amazing tutorial ( http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=374080.0 ) and wanted to give it a go.  I originally planned to just decorate it with robot themes then I stumbled upon Gordon Bennett's robots ( http://www.bennettrobotworks.com/robots.php ) and well one thing turned into another.

Lots of E6000, found objects, and a trip to the hardware store and craft store later I present Alfred the robot!

Enjoy!

3  Snow Day Projects in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Brookie5686 on: February 01, 2011 08:17:44 PM
So there is this big snow storm currently hitting large portions of the U.S. and since you can't go out to do anything might as well stay in and craft.

First up a strawberry bracelet.

Although hard to tell the dark pink large beads are actually paper beads!  I couldn't get a good picture, but they turned out well and I'm proud of them for a first attempt at them.

Next up the spider necklace.  Found a really cool spider charm and some tiny bits of chains left over so I created this.

Some close ups:

The charm is also the clasp.

Sorry the pictures aren't the best, blame the blizzard  Wink

Enjoy! and Thanks for Looking!

4  Hockey Mascot - Lots of Pics! in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Brookie5686 on: January 18, 2011 10:32:40 AM
So I was asked to make a mascot of our local AHL hockey team The Rockford Icehogs.  The mascot is a pig in a jersey, so using this pattern http://happyyellowhouse.com/htm/pig.html as inspiration I set out on my adventure.  This is by far the most complicated crocheted item I have ever made, and I am quite pleased with the results.  Enjoy the pics!

Bacon Bit - Front

Back

His cute little curly tail!

His hockey skates, MY FAVORITE part by far!

Head Shot

Close up of jersey.  The jersey was made from a newborn, long sleeve onsie. I had to hem it twice cause the first time it was too short.  Then I painted it to reflect what the actual team jerseys look like.

Bacon Bit with Hammy, his inspiration and 'dad'.

Thanks for looking! C&C welcome!

5  Re: International Snack Swap 2 Gallery! in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by Brookie5686 on: December 20, 2010 01:13:24 PM
I received today!!!!  Grin  I even went out in the snow to meet our postwoman.  I'm in Illinois, 90 mins northwest of Chicago, and I received from Canada.  And for background information, I really wanted an Aero bar or two.  Wink

On to the images.

First the cutest snack bag.  Large enough to fit a sandwich in, and once school starts up again and I go back to teaching I will be bringing my sandwich to work in it.

First pic of goodies:
1 box of smarties:gone
1 coffee crisp: gone
Kinder egg: gone.  I'm going to give the Batman toy inside to me BF, he loves Batman.

Last pic of goodies:
Warning Aero overload ahead!  This stuff is so good.  I shared one mini bar with my dad and am hiding the rest away for days when I need an air-filled chocolaty delight!

Thanks so much to my partner and organizer mxer145!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a picture of part of what I sent to mxer145.  I only took a picture after shopping trip one.  I bought most of the sweets in shopping trip two.  I also tried the bag of basil and tomato chips, instead of sending them oops! Tongue
In the pic is/are:
Mamba's - fruit chew
Microwavable Pork Rinds
Honey Mustard Pringles
Gardetto's - I LOVE THESE! - especially the brown rye chips.
Watchamacallits
Oh!Henrys
Funfetti Cake
Rainbow Chip Frosting for the Cake - Together those two make the most delicious cake!
Cherry Magic Shell for Ice Cream

NOT included in the pic, but things I sent:
A black paper box for stashing and hiding yummy treats
Loads of sweets see mxer's previous post.

Obligatory cat photo.  He's on the box, I think he would have gone to Canada if it were allowed.

7  Hogwarts' Houses Necklace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Brookie5686 on: November 21, 2010 06:17:36 PM
So I'm going to see Harry Potter tomorrow, wanted to wait for the crowds to die down a bit.  Anyways I wanted to make a necklace to celebrate the film.  So I made one representing each house at Hogwarts.

Slytherin = Silver and Green
Hufflepuff = Bronze and Blue
Ravenclaw = Black and Yellow
Gryffindor = Red and Gold

It's a long, dangly type necklace.  It's something different from your everyday Harry Potter jewelry.  Hope you enjoy. Grin

C & C Welcome

8  Slouchy? Hat in Crochet: Completed Projects by Brookie5686 on: October 17, 2010 05:27:33 PM
Hey All!

So I've known how to do the basics of crocheting for a while, but wanting to improve I've taken a class at the local community college.  I wanted to try my newly honed skills on a hat for myself.  I found this really cute slouchy hat pattern here: http://jessicasuzanne.com/craftypants/2007/09/13/pretty-puffs-slouchy-hat-with-pattern/

So here is my attempt at the hat.  Not as slouchy as I would have liked, but for my first 'official' project I am pretty pleased.  I'm going to try making a pig in the near future, so we'll see how well I can make the jump from hats to dolls.

Thanks for looking and sorry the pics aren't the greatest took them with my phone.

9  Re: Jewelry Trunk Show Swap GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by Brookie5686 on: October 09, 2010 11:35:05 AM
Thanks pixiefirefly for posting those pics. I have been swamped at work this week.  I'm a sub and I got a call Sunday to fill in for a teacher for an unknown length of time... Anyways here are a couple more pics.

The box

The whole kit and kaboodle:

Lots of fun and different pieces!  They are unlike my other jewelry, which is great because I love the variety of the things pixiefirefly sent me.  Plus with this swap I literally doubled my jewelry stash.  Grin I make things but never keep them for myself.

The necklaces and bracelets:

The earrings:

The purple moon pair is so beautiful!!!!!

Sorry the pictures aren't the greatest.

10  Fairy Door in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by Brookie5686 on: July 28, 2010 01:58:40 PM
This is a fairy door I made for a personal swap.  I have used polymer in the past, but it has been a bit.  Let me know what you think.  This is my first time posting a piece of work on this site.

I also included a quick little 'crafty' bracelet that I made.

Sorry if the images are a little fuzzy or too bright, I don't have the best camera.
