1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / WALALALALALLET on: April 24, 2006 12:12:39 PM
so last night, instead of cleaning my room i made a new wallet. (its not crooked, its just the picture.)

^^ the room i didnt clean....

yeah. im a little dissapointed cause i messed up the change part (the button thing) and the card things are too short and i need to close it with velcro or something BUT i put one of those plastic "stick your id here" things on the only place the velcro might go so....bad engineering. but it was my first attempt at a wallet so im proud.

note: dont fuck around with spray adhesive at 3am. not a good idea.

ps; sorry the pictures are big.

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / fashion design as a career?? on: February 28, 2006 09:04:56 PM
Ok so I know I sound like every other teenager out there who likes clothes and "wants to be a fashion designer". While this is true, I know that I have the creativity, talent and ambition to become a designer or pursue some kind of fashion career. The problem is, I have no idea where to start and what kind of steps to take to do this. I'm a sophomore in high school right now and I'm starting to get the heaps of college letters in my mailbox and email - meaning I know college is right around the corner. This only leaves me more stumped as to how to get into a design school, etc. I wouldn't even know how to put a portfolio together or how to apply or anything.

I know some of you on here are already in school for a job in fashion and I was wondering if you could tell me how to start and get going in the right direction? I'm really clueless as to what to do. I'm also planning on taking some kind of class or summer coarse somewhere to get better and get more expierence, but I can't find anywhere in the Connecticut/ New England area. So if you had any ideas about that, that'd be great too.

Someone please help!
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / yet ANOTHER sweet 16 post... on: January 25, 2006 11:28:31 AM
well since no one had any ideas to offer for my friends disco suprise pasrty, hopefully you'll have some ideas for this one?

in may my best friends and i are having a conjoined sweet 16 party. yeah, it seems early but we dont see eachother often cause of her dance schedule and my guard schedule. we're planning on renting this room in our town hall (which is also has a movie theatre in it...the town hall i mean, not the room lol). the only problem is we're stuck on ideas.

the problem is we go to different schools and have different friends. we want to bring them all together and have them meet but nicole (the friend im having this with) says most of her guy friends will be really bored if all we do is dance, while my friends would be entertained forever dancing. plus, there really isnt much to do besides dancing if we rent that room/a  dj.

so yeah. any theme/ideas or whatever would be AMAZING.
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / disco party? on: January 23, 2006 01:30:28 PM
kayso here's the scenario.

my friend amanda and i are having a disco/70's themed (very belated) surpise sweet 16 for our friend lauren this friday at my house.

the problem? we came up with the idea about a week ago and have to put everything together this week.

we've invited about 25 people -- the rest of the colorguard the three of us are in and a few other people who we hang out with in school.

does anyone have ANY ideas for food/decorations, or anything? were planning on having people dress up and basically hanging out/ dancing the whole time. we've enlisted our friend mark to make a few cds of 70''s music and im looking to borrow one of those black disco ball things with the colored lights from my friend sarah.

we're also planning on putting that colored cellophane over the lights in my basement (theyre all the rectangular lights built into the ceiling that are obnoxiously bright and un flattering.)

ALSO, we're poor high school students who dont want to spend too much money and have to get this pulled together by this friday. we do, however, have plenty of time seeing as this week is midterms which = all half days.

any help or ideas would be GREATLT appreciated. thanks.
6  CLOTHING / Designer Clothing Homage / GENERRA (ellegirl design challenge) on: January 17, 2006 04:25:01 PM
kso Ellegirl and Generra are having this "design challenge" where you design a piece or even a whole outfit for Generra's fall 06 collection. the winner has their design put into the collection, yadda yadda.

so i was wondering if you guys would check out the generra website (you know, look at the clothes, whatever) and give me a few words that you think would describe their style. cause it has to fit in and such and maybe one of you will notice something about theirs style that i wont...

heres the rules and whatever if anyone else is interested :: http://ellegirl.com/win/generra/

i LOVE this dress and without a doubt want to make it, but how would i make the bottom skirtish part? would it be the kind of thing where i make a basic circle skirt, but instead of cutting a circle for my waist, i make a slit??
