1  Re: Topsy Turvy Doll Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by sewmess on: June 16, 2016 06:44:21 PM
Finally able to take a moment and catch up here.  WOW - what great dolls!!
And I get to show of my super doll - Power Women of the DCU!!

Animei did a great job of fitting my interests and created a doll that blew me away.

Wonder Woman - the skirt is perfect! and the top is glittery - so is her hair.

Super Girl - Shiny shirt and a fuzzy skirt. And the S-emblem is so precise - fabulous.

(she really does have two arms, I just noticed that one of them is tucked behind her)

Thank you so much! they are awesome and I just hope my doll (when I get them finished) will be as well received.

I received my goodies a while ago, but as a prod to myself I waited until I sent.

And it was worth the wait.

My husband caught me off guard so the picture features my dumpy middle, but I now have my very own Haunted Mansion apron. Hand sewn, too, which impresses me: I hand sew only when necessary and never full garments.

and there was this bag, with a beautiful Tree of Life picture printed on it and two necklaces: a Mickey head washer necklace and a shrink art (?) Tree of Life pendant.

Close up of the Tree of Life pendant.

And, while I am not normally a Tsum Tsum lover, I am a Sven fan and this is the cutest Sven ever!! (I love how his little tongue is sticking out - sorry no picture.)

GatorWrangler sent her note on a card with some of the Disney World pictures she had taken. Which I do not have pictured.

Thank you so much for the Fabulous Swap, GatorWrangler!!

3  Re: Christmas Stocking Swap! in The Swap Gallery by sewmess on: December 13, 2015 12:55:14 PM
Oh wow! what an awesome gallery!  and I get to add to the awesomeness.

Snowyangel definitely did some first class stalking for this stocking.

The beautiful upcycled (I think) Star Trek stocking. It's really soft.

I opened the mug rug upside down and it took me a minute to realize what it was, but the sewn piggy banks were immediately recognizable from my pinterest

Keeping with the Star Trek theme, Tribbles (and they were no tribble at all, except the puppy stole one)

Our Big Dog (T) and cat are represented with this ornament, which is now on our tree:

Another ornament already on the tree: Spiderman house.

And my second favorite, Catwoman & Batman pendant (also from my pinterest)

My very favorite is the catnip toy: we got a puppy a few weeks ago and the cat is having difficulty adapting. This catnip toy has calmed her down and given her something for her own in one of her safe places. She's not attacking the puppy as much and they are actually playing a little. THANK YOU for the drugs for my kitty!!  And because she did immediately take it, I don't have a close up of it, just her playing:

Purchased items included a "my children have paws" key chain, some chocolate, tea & K cups. And some great lotion, smoothing but not greasy.

Thanks for everything and I hope you enjoy your package (and I'm sorry for not getting any yummies in the stocking)

4  Re: Fill a "Coffee" Mug Swap - Gallery in The Swap Gallery by sewmess on: February 22, 2015 08:47:06 AM
So, I received a while ago but couldn't find the camera charger.  My DH had actually put it where it belonged and produced it for me. Cheesy

monkeygirl sent me lovely goodies from New Zealand!  I was very excited.  I also got her very first Mug Rug.

The whole package:

Monkeygirl spoiled me with New Zealand goodies as well as the crafted ones.

Crafted Goodies Specifically:
The mug rug

The other side with the New Zealand specific Earl Grey.

The snack envelope with Lumpies... which I loved.  I'm a sucker for gummy type candies.

I don't have an individual picture of the hoop, but I see it everyday as it is temporarily hanging over my coffee maker from the cabinet handle.  It will eventually go in the kitchen permanently.

Thanks!

5  Re: Disney Swap Round 12 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by sewmess on: September 11, 2014 07:37:30 PM
And, as Whistley received, I realized I hadn't taken pictures.  That's all fixed and now I present some of the most Awesome Disney Stuff!!

First- All of the great stuff:
It was all individually wrapped, inside the bag which was also wrapped with a label saying "Inspired by one of your favorite characters"

The lining is Cars material (It's just a thumbnail because it's a little fuzzy.)

I pulled out what was obviously a hoop first and was completely blown away.  I love Phil Harris' style and his characters are my favorites in their respective movies.

Then I turned it over and there was Phil himself!! With Baloo, his most famous character.

Then was this fabulous box with DH's favorite character next to Bolt. (He loves his dogs)

And the final thing I pulled out of the bag was what I thought was another hoop, but it's sooo much more wearable!!  I'm taking this with me to WDW and the Halloween Party!! The little mini horns are just right!

Thank you so very much, Whistley!!

This was a really fun swap, even if a bunch of real life slowed my progress.

6  Re: Hoopla Swap R11: Words With or Without Words - GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by sewmess on: July 19, 2014 02:26:33 PM
I got my hoop last week and am just now posting because work got in the way and I REALLY wanted to finish her hoop (which will be in the mail Monday Cheesy)

So, one of my favorite quotes of all time is actually a kind of throw-away line from Deadpool.  And so, last week I opened a bubble package to find....

My very own Deadpool!!  With my favorite quote.

Not only is it big (10") it is only my second hoop ever.  I had one when I was a kid that my mom made, but I'm not sure where it is.  Needless to say I do not have a hoop wall, so it's hanging in the living room right under my husband's Empire Strikes Back metal poster reproduction for the moment.

I love him!! (the husband too Wink)

7  Re: Super Simple Holiday Apron Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by sewmess on: December 01, 2013 07:29:11 PM
I'm guessing sewmess has gotten a bit busy, so I'm going to post the one I sent to her.  She said she liked moose, but a lot of the moose fabric out there seemed kind of log cabin-ish.  So I saw this Scandinavian kids print of moose & thought it was a lot more festive.  Here is the apron, with sparkly blue/silver straps & pockets.

And here is a close up of the fabric.

thanks for posting these.  Actually what happened is DH put the camera away and then told me I couldn't get it out of the closet because my Christmas gift is in there.  Then Thanksgiving happened and DH left the camera at the in laws.  It's been one of those months. Tongue

I almost wore it to make my part of Thanksgiving dinner, but I'm sometimes a mess when I bake, so I just couldn't.  Thanks again I LOVE it!

8  Re: Mug Rug Rd5 Swap - SO April 29th in The Swap Gallery by sewmess on: May 12, 2013 01:21:22 PM
Wow, what a great bunch of craftiness!!  The art in some of these rugs are amazing.

I received mine about a week ago and am just now posting.  Sorry about the delay.

Jennifer sent a note explaining how the first rug she worked on didn't quite work and while I would have loved the moose, which she gets to see in real life and I'm just the teensy bit jealous, I love the precision and clean lines of pieced quilting.

Here the rug is in action:

And a better look at the whole flower.

9  Re: Anything Goes Tiny House Swap, rd. 2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by sewmess on: March 26, 2013 05:22:36 PM
Oh my what a couple of weeks I've had and what great houses have been posted!!

stepharellamade me a great little hill with 3 tiny houses.  It's either from my pinterest or inspired by the tiny little polymer houses that I pinned repeatedly.

Either way, here it is.

(there was a little house/hill seperation: I think I got everything back in the right place.)

10  "I can make you some Fightin' Pants" in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by sewmess on: February 28, 2013 06:34:55 PM
DH wears lounge pants and PJ bottems around the house after his 10 hour shifts.  Riley is his favorite character from Buffy the vampire Slayer and there's a scene where he needs some clothing assistance from Xander.  Xander tells him "You need some fightin' pants?  I can get you some fightin' pants."  And brings him the most flamboyant 80s parachute type pants even.  Long story short, we call his lounging pants his fightin' pants.

On a last minute Christmas shopping trip to Joanns, I found their Star Trek flannel.  I hadn't made anything for my darling husband besides the winging it first attempts at things, so I thought "what a great gift, some Star Trek fightin' pants."  I had a thrift store pattern, two yards of Star Trek Enterprise D flannel.  I also had a bad bout of back/shoulder issues, so the present ended up being the components wrapped in a remnent of some old school baby wale with flamboyant colors, much like the named Fightin' Pants from Buffy.

I finally (after a few trips to the chiropractor) felt up to making the pants.  Coincidentally, it happened to be about a week before Valentines Day.  Two holidays in one fell swoop!!

After minor modifications to the pattern (I added pockets) viola, the final product.

and the aforementioned modified pocket.  They ended up a little low on the thigh, but he's good with it.
