1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / help with "butterfly bow" stitch from this sock pattern please on: October 24, 2010 10:43:41 PM
Hi everyone,

I found this sock pattern across ravelry and fell in love with that bow looking stitch but i cant figure it out.

click for picture (because i havent posted 10 times yet)

To gather a bow: reaching the tip of the right needle under the four strands below, knit the next stitch. Adjust the tension of this stitch until the strands are pulled neatly up into a bow. On the first repeat of row 1, of course there is no bow to be gathered, and at the end of the patterned portion, do a round gathering the bows but do not do the slipped stitches.

Rounds 1: *p1, sl5 with yarn in front, p1, k5, p1, k2, gather bow, k2*
All even rounds (2 through 24): *p 1, k5* 3 around
Rounds 3, 5, & 7: *p1, sl5 wyif, p1, k5, p1, k5*
Round 9: *p1, k2, gather bow, k2, p1, sl5 wyif, p1, k5*
Rounds 11, 13, & 15: *p1, k5, p1, sl5 wyif, p1, k5*
Round 17: *p1, k5, p1, k2, gather bow, k2, p1, sl5 wyif*
Rounds 19, 21, & 23: *p1, k5, p1, k5, p1, sl5 wyif*

i have the four strands, but i cant seem to get the gathering part.

can anyone help?

6  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Pixel granny square blanket? on: August 10, 2010 03:01:56 PM
hey everyone, I'm kinda new to this place, long time lurker first time asking a question.

I saw this blanket yesterday (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=356077.0) and I'm dying to make one of the comic book character Harley Quinn for my younger sister.  Does anyone have tips on how to get the pattern?

I tried putting a small sprite/pixel drawing of Harley on paint, turning on the grid, and then making those the granny squares, but that just be super huge and would need tonssss of squares.  how can i make it smaller?

or is there an easier way?
