I'd say probably the best Gir pattern i've seen yet! You deserve a cupcake for this one.

Ooh, these are fantastic! I'm going to try making some of these for my parents who are both a bit golf mad. I'll give the FPDC and BPDC slinky design a try too!

Well, just incase anyone was wondering...

K1 yarns on Queen Margaret Drive closed down last year to focus on their Edinburgh branch (not that i mind, they were overpriced and unfriendly), but there is now a cafe/yarn shop there called the Yarn Cake which has opened in the last few weeks and they stock a good variety of yarn across different price ranges.
Mandors is pretty useless for yarn i'm afraid, their stock is limited at best.
John Lewis has lots of nice yarn and a good haberdashery but if you buy some yarn there don't expect it to still be in stock a few months later, they change their stock fairly regularly.
The Life Craft has some gorgeous yarns and also sell kits of stuff you can spin yourself. Vonnie who runs the place is fabulous and i'm sure she would order stuff in for you if you like. They can be a little pricey but all the stuff they sell is really nice.

Anyhoo, yes old thread, but up to date info   Grin

I can't wait to see the finished results guys. These pixelated designs look like a great idea and as big of a gamerette i'm pretty tempted to try something similar myself.
10  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / Hello from Glasgow on: July 05, 2010 03:32:00 AM
Hey, I'm Merihell , I'm 24 and a shop assistant living in Glasgow.
I have always been a little bit arty and I was brought up in a creative family.  My mother had a "sewing room" at the top of our house and it was a little treasure trove of craftiness: stacks of fabric, mountains of yarn and boxes of buttons and ribbons everywhere! My sister Fiona studied art and for a while worked as a lighting designer but found her true calling in making Jewellery.
I myself got into the crafts after Christmas with my family. My other sister, Viki, was working on some knitting projects and gave me a pouch she made for my phone. She showed me the ropes and I found myself wanting to knit constantly when I got home. On a recent holiday Fiona showed me how to crochet a granny square and I found myself addicted although I quickly got bored of squares.
Now I'm trying out amigurumi and I have completed a couple of critters which I have given to my flatmates. Keen to find some good patterns to try out, especially of monkeys, cos that's what my boyfriend's been pestering me for.
