BRAVO , BRAVO.  I have been using shower curtains for making dresses for Costumes for a theatre group here at home... Some of the best material I have found to work with to make Renaissance dresses have been beautiful shower curtains..

This is a beautiful dress... a beautiful little girl to wear it..

Congratulations on a wonderful project... a great job of recycling

3  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Re: Anyone made a baby dress form? on: November 14, 2010 09:15:30 AM
I am thinking in the same lines... except my grandkids are size 4,  I am thinking of taking a size 4 sleeper w/feet.. and stuffing it with fiber fill to the deminsions of the girls... using an old Jo ann fabric ghost (the legs are about the right length.. ) to keep it upright...
At least I will have somethiing that resembles them>

You might try a sleeper..

Believe it or not... I bought the same Exact shirt at Goodwill this summer and made a dress almost exactly like this for my 3 yr old granddaughter... YES, It was a man's shirt...mine came in a 2X.
The dress is adorable... and I am so glad that someone gave the shirt to Goodwill. Now my granddaughter has an adorable dress.. Grin

6  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: button shirt to toddler dress recon *NEW MINTY FRESH TUTORIAL* on: September 25, 2010 07:50:59 PM
I love this tutorial. I just finished making my 8th dress from men's shirts. Today's was a black and white seersucker.  I have a friend who has started an embroidery business. She is going to make orange and red butterflies on the front yoke.

I love this pattern so much... and my grandgirls look so sweet in their dresses and everybody is amazed that it is made from a man's dress shirt.

Very pretty, the embroidery just adds that special personal touch.

I would love to know where you got your sewing model. I would love to have one also. I have two granddaughters that I love to sew for, but they live so far away. It is a guessing game to see if everything I make them fits.

9  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Fairy Costume made from Shower Curtain on: July 20, 2010 08:52:10 AM
I am very new to Craftsters, but not new to costume construction.
I volunteer my creative talents to a community theatre group. We do children theatre also.
I use any type of material I can get my hands on, curtains, table cloths, sheets , and reconstruct and repurpose.

This costume was made from 2 dark green ruffled diamond patterned shower curtains.

I don't know how to post pictures within the post... so please look and then tell me what you think.
Unfortunately , the dress form was not as curvy as the actress.
Thank you
