1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Borg Queen TREKKIES HELP on: August 11, 2010 05:39:41 PM
For the details, would it be possible to use a purchased leotard and attach cording with a zipper foot to make the vein-y look?  I know what I'm talking about, but I'm not sure I can explain it- anyway here goes:

Outline on the wrong side of your leotard a line of detail that you want to work on.
Then lay a piece of thin cording or thick string or even kitchen twine maybe, over your drawn line.  Use a couple pins to keep it in place.  Fold your leotard over and topstitch from the right side, using a zipper foot, as close as possible to your cord.  Then repeat this for the next detail you want to work.  Repeat as often as necessary.

It works in my head- but a lot of stuff that works in my head doesn't work anywhere else.   Huh

7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: 2010 What is everyone planning to make for Christmas? on: August 01, 2010 07:58:40 AM
Making magic stockings for the kids and myself- more of a decoration than a gift tho.
Kids will each get a hippy-inspired appliqued bolster pillow for their beds (this will be my handmade contribution to their gift- they will get other stuff as well).
Embroidering chef aprons with Christmas motifs for family and close friends, and making coordinating pot holders.  Also casserole carriers that will have more of a year-round design.  Will purchase 13 x 9" covered pans and package aprons & potholders inside, and slide the whole deal into the casserole carrier.
Something golf-y for Dad.
Something geek-y for BIL.
DBF is the hunter- he got a camo stocking with blaze orange fleece cuff last year, so this year I suppose I will have to actually fill it.

The link in the post above is now going to an
application for the 2010 Craft-Vendor Fair due
to be held on October 2.
Applications are to be received no later than
September 12.
This is something to think about...
