1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Bears make me happy (complete w/ photos) on: December 20, 2006 11:05:29 PM
I just finished this and I'm going to make a few more for extra special really inexpensive gifts...it only took me about twenty minutes to finish one! The front is an old photo and the back is some wrapping paper I got from the dollar store...I just enclosed it in glass and soldered it up!

Let me know what you think!!
2  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Mr. and Mrs. Monsterface on: November 02, 2006 05:22:09 AM

I made a 'hood' out of muslin and then attached it to the faux fur and stuffed it with polyfill. Then I just sewed little mitts for our hands. These things are hot when you wear them, and I felt like a real monster from all of the kids reactions to us! I've never been petted before!

i hope this helps everyone!!
I made a hood, then i created the monster head. Sew the mouth shape to the hood and head then cut inside the lines. Stuff all around the hood inside the head remembering its freakin hot and can be heavy...sew the base of the hood to the head and embellish...voila! (it took about 4 hours for the mr. and 2 for the mrs. cause i figured it out!)
3  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / I gave the yeti a friend!!! on: November 01, 2006 09:50:04 AM

The mrs. got to come out too! I did'nt finish the bodies...but I'm still working on it. I'll wear this all the time!
4  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / my husbands a yeti on: October 30, 2006 01:59:12 PM

I whipped this baby up in about two hours!- pillowstuffing +fur+muslin+felt=the greatest furry monster ever! My hub say's it's super hot so I'm praying for the weather to cool a little. The day after I finished this I saw the craftlab with Jenny Harada, her masks and monsters are awesome. I thought I was coming up with something different... ah well, I hope you like it! I'm working on the bodysuit right now to go with it...I have less than 24 hours to finish it...wish me luck! And let me know what you think!!!
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Felt- Before or After? on: August 18, 2006 06:53:33 AM
I'm making little wool monsters and I'm wondering...would it be better to felt before I stuff it or after? Is the stuffing going to come through or get all lumpy if I do it before? I could make a little stuffy swatch but I wanted to try the easy way and ask first!
thanks!
6  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Any suggestions for my windows? on: July 21, 2006 08:41:11 PM
I have these tiny panes of glass along either side of my front door. I really wanted to get some sort of frosted paper and cut it to size then stick it on. Maybe something with a small pattern...does this stuff exist? I cant do anything permant as I'm renting but any ides would help. You can see me in my PJ's on the couch from the street-help!
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Alterknits crown pattern on: September 18, 2005 07:56:46 PM
I'm knitting the crown pattern in the Alterknits book with crepe streamer and of course I keep breaking it. I've only been working for two hours and I'm almost finished, so I will definitely make more for my kids.(Great book, btw.)
Also- the abbreviation SSKP :"slip the next two stitches, one at a time knitwise, to the righthanded needle, return the 2 stitches to left-handed needle in turned position, k2tog-tbl" How do I know which way is the turned position, is that the way it now is on the needle???
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Arrested Development- on: August 15, 2005 12:10:14 AM
There was a Cardigan that Tobias (David Cross) was wearing on a rerun last week...It green long sleeved and had skulls and X's all over...it was awesome. Did anyone else see it? I'm going to get a similar pattern for the cardigan and add the intarsia myself. Now...how do I graph that out?
9  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / I want a wheel...now what? on: July 05, 2005 09:53:33 PM
I really think it's time I get a wheel. I have been saving my pennies for a while and I'm going to Earthguild in NC Thurs to look at some. Now, what do you recommend for beginners? I've worked with a drop spindle before but I'm ready to move over to a wheel. I know that I really like chunky or slubby yarn, and my spindle hates that so I want something that will work and not break my tiny piggybank!
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Finger puppets(Heavy photos) on: June 16, 2005 02:14:31 PM

I knitted these after I saw this: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer03/PATTpuppers.html
But I didn't really follow the same pattern...once you knit a rectangle they are really easy to sew up and Make into an animal...I'm working on a Giraffe I'll post photos later.
