This is so cute!  Thank you for the tutorial.  Your directions are really clear.  I just might have to make one of these soon, especially now that fall is in the air.   Although I am scared of zippers a little. There's a first time for everything.
13  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Thrift store finds revamp into a cool new bags on: August 31, 2010 05:05:29 AM
This is my first post.  Hope I'm doing this right. =)
I love thrift stores and secondhand shops.  Good fabric can always be found there, as well as super cheap materials with which to do my experiments.

Here are the two neckties and the curtain valance that I bought for a grand total of four bucks.

After a little creative crafting, here is the finished result.

My sister loved it so much that I had to give it to her.  It's ok.  I bought the entire set of curtains, for a measly two bucks a piece.  So, I can make me another.

Here is another bag I made from curtain material, also found at my local thrift store. Sorry, but I didn't take any before pictures.  This was my first project in a really long time.

Thanks for looking! And thanks to all you craftsters who inspired me to start being crafty again.

20  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: My First Quilt on: August 25, 2010 06:00:51 PM
It's beautiful and reminds me of the quilts my grandmother and great-grandmother made.   And, you're right, that quilt will definitely make things more homey in your new place.  My mom's a quilter too, and I have taken several of her creations with me on my numerous moves over the years. Nothing says cozy and comfortable like a quilt.  Great job!
