1  The Red Balloon Cabinet (Pic Heavy) in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Candacerhae on: May 12, 2011 12:02:07 PM
This is my first big decoupage project, and I am pretty pleased with how it turned out.  Here are some pics of the base materials, which were a children's book I picked up at the thriftstore, and a small, unfinished cabinet purchased at Michael's.

And the fun begins!  I painted the inside of the cabinet, its hinges, and the doorknob with red, oil-based paint.

Then it was onto the exterior.  All I used for this part were the pages from the book, some scissors, and lots of Mod Podge.

Here's my favorite part, the top of the cabinet.

Hope y'all like it.  Any comments welcome!

2  Thrift store finds revamp into a cool new bags in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Candacerhae on: August 31, 2010 05:05:29 AM
This is my first post.  Hope I'm doing this right. =)
I love thrift stores and secondhand shops.  Good fabric can always be found there, as well as super cheap materials with which to do my experiments.

Here are the two neckties and the curtain valance that I bought for a grand total of four bucks.

After a little creative crafting, here is the finished result.

My sister loved it so much that I had to give it to her.  It's ok.  I bought the entire set of curtains, for a measly two bucks a piece.  So, I can make me another.

Here is another bag I made from curtain material, also found at my local thrift store. Sorry, but I didn't take any before pictures.  This was my first project in a really long time.

Thanks for looking! And thanks to all you craftsters who inspired me to start being crafty again.
