1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / New to sewing....ugh. on: April 13, 2011 10:38:43 AM
I've been crocheting for about a year and decided, why not sew, too? So I bought a machine and some fabric and thought "can't be that hard". Really. Wow. I've made some OK curtains, but that's it. I can't get the hang of sewing in a straight line, AT ALL. I want to make some cute clothes for my kids, but seriously, if I can't even sew in a straight line, how am I supposed to figure all of that out? Any advice for a newbie?
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Create your own stitches? on: January 01, 2011 06:39:01 PM
My husband wanted to learn to crochet, so I showed him the basics....he decided to make up some stitch, and it's actually sorta nice. It's really thick, kinda poofy. This is what he did:

yo 3 times, insert hook into next stitch
yo, pull up a loop
yo, pull through 3 loops
yo, pull through 3 loops.

Does this stitch already exist?
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Tapestry crochet...tunisian or sc? on: December 15, 2010 08:43:45 PM
I'm itching to try tapestry crochet, but I'm confused as to use the tunisian stitch, or do it all in single crochet. Is there a huge difference?
