1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Ribbon slouch bag on: August 22, 2010 10:26:04 AM

I have finally finished this bag, after weeks and weeks of blood, sweat and tears. It's a pattern from a Dutch pattern magazine called 'Knip' (september issue). It's a slouchy bag, with a large ribbon on one side and I have made an inner pouch in the lining.

However, I just couldn't figure out how to do the top/handles. In the end, I just did 'something' just to finish the darn thing. And even fotographing it wasn't easy. The outer fabric is a faux suede and the colors in the first picture reflect the actual colours best (very dark blue). The inner fabric is cotton. I really like the bag itself, but I don't like the fact that it isn't perfect, technically. I'm definitely NOT going to attempt this pattern again any time soon  Wink

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Dutch magazine August issue with bag patterns on: July 02, 2010 11:32:37 PM
A heads up to those that are interested and can get their hands on the magazine. The August issue of 'Knipmode', a Dutch sewing magazine, has a special on bags. It features 9 bag patterns. According to the cover it has 10 bags in it, but I can't see the 10th. Anyway, this is part of the overview page where it shows small images of the bags they have included patterns and instructions of:

The bag patterns are all very different from each other.

I am definitely getting this one once it hits the shops next week Grin
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / And 2 Tatanne bags for myself on: July 01, 2010 08:05:37 AM
The first two I made were birthday presents, so I decided to make one for myself as well, since I really love the pattern. 'Sister of' did a great job with that pattern, I think.

I started off with a sturdy linnen one in de colors dark grey for the outer fabric and mid grey for the lining. Once the bag was finished, I thought it was more of a bag for winter. I had some blue jeans left overs from another project and I saw a lot of tacky dutch cotton on the market. Most was very cheap and with the current World Championship Soccer craziness here in the Netherlands, I couldn't resist. I made a second one, for more casual use, from the blue jeans with the tacky dutch cotton.

First the casual tatanne:

Seeing the blue jeans one finished, I can easily see how it's a great bag to pimp up with beads, or ribbons, or applications. Maybe if I ever make one again, I will consider pimping it.

I'm new here, and I would like to share my very first bag project. I made 2 tatanne bags; a free pattern from 'sister of'. Both bags are going to be birthday gifts. I just wanted to share this awesome pattern.

Apparently I'm not allowed to post pictures, but there are pics in my photo hosting

The first bag is creme with creme with flower lining.
