I just found this pattern and want to make one for my neices who are five and my son who is a year.

ANY ONE have any suggestions on sizing?? I know crochet doesn't do as hot at knit on the stretch factor.

Oh god....I've been shopping for these because I thought they were all knit and I don't know how to do that!

CROCHET....I learned when I was a kid. MUST REVIVE the skill to make these for the kiddo!

I wouldn't use the landscape adhesive or the silicone.  Look for some kind of bonding stuff that's just for rock to wood.  Maybe ask at Home Depot or something. I've found that the rock have come off a little when using the landscape adhesive and silicone is really a sealant not an adhesive. Maybe Gorilla Glue or a 2 part epoxy.

Have you just cut the selvages? No finishing? I imagine that would make it really interesting and soft after some use and a few washings.

Yup, just snip the selvage and wash.  Sometimes I think that all the snipping takes just as long as binding, but...you can do it while watching TV or sitting in bed which is the best! It turns out super soft and the opposite side is just like a regular quilt. Since I make a lot of these for baby gifts, I figure the baby has a choice to feel the cool textures or have a smooth blanket depending on which side is up.

So a ton of my friends are having kids and I love tie dye.  I made a bunch of onesies for the gifts and then used the extra dye to jazz up a few of my little guys cloth diapers.

 

 

I think they turned out great!! I just used the Dharma Trading Company kit from JoAnn's and it seems to be staying really well, even after lots of washing...and the occasional poop stain (sorry).
OH...and this one I tried to do the hot glue gun batik thing and it totally didn't work out. Well, I guess it kind of looks like it on the sleeves. I just love the outdoor sock monkey...he is sooooo cute!

I've made a few rag quilts for friends and I've always put batting squares in between the two flannel pieces but this time I used fleece on one side and flannel on the other.  It made for a really cool blanket. Nice and cozy... and I could use some different textures for the baby to explore!
