1  Esmeralda from Hunchback of Notre Dame in Halloween Costumes by keledrial on: November 05, 2013 04:10:21 PM
I decided this past summer that I wanted to be Esmeralda for Halloween this year because I work in a daycare and wanted something the kids would recognize. Everything in this costume is handmade by me except the blouse! It took forever since I didn't have any patterns, but it was so much fun!

2  my first purses (pic heavy) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by keledrial on: August 09, 2010 01:26:06 PM
I admit it. I'm a purse junkie. but i'm a penny pincer and i hate spending a lot of money on things like that. then i cam across this really easy tutorial from thejordy ( http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=32204.0 ) and thought, 'hey, i can do that!' so i found some scrap fabric, stole my mother's sewing machine, and got to work.

the first one is done with scraps that i bought at joanns a while back. i know it doesn't match, but i wasn't too concerned. i just wanted to see if i could do it.

and with a little tweaking...

...it's reversible!!

so now knowing that i was able to follow a basic pattern, i decided to try sewing in some batting (which was a bit thick, but i'm new at this and still learning) to give it more structure. I decided i wanted to give this one away and get some feedback, so after finding the right materials, i went at it for the second try and came up with this:

the lining

and a little flair

i also sewed some velcro in to keep it closed later on...so yea. those are my first purses. let me know what you think and if you have any tips, i'd be more that willing to hear them!
