2  kid's tool box in Completed Projects by de6w6it on: May 08, 2012 07:47:09 AM
My 3 year old son loves to help me work on/fix my truck, my car, things around the house, his bike, etc.  I was at the local swap meet over the weekend and picked him up a 1/4" drive ratchet, some 1/4" drive sockets, a few small wrenches, small screwdriver, etc. that are, as he puts it, "Just my sizes".  I decided I wanted to make him a new tool box to go along with it.  My brother is quite the woodworker, so I have a nice shop and tools to work with, and scraps of some pretty swanky exotic wood to dig through.
Here is the result, made from walnut, oak, pine, poplar, and real mahogany:

  Thanks for looking  Grin

3  Earrings :) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by de6w6it on: January 15, 2012 12:04:02 PM
I made some earrings   Grin  The copper front piece was a plumbing pipe hangar.  I drilled it out and hammered it, then filed and sanded it to shape.  The silver back piece was a nickel.  I drilled it then did the same hammering, filing, and sanding.  They were buffed with a little bit of steel wool.  I attached them to the earring hooks with some copper wire.
Thanks for checking them out Smiley

I also made this for my wife (with the little guy in mind obviously):

The next thing I made was a motorcycle for my father in law.  Again, I used metal scraps laying around from leftovers from my car working adventures, and there are some used bicycle parts on there we got at the swap meet in Englishtown.  (I think he liked it, as he took it with him and showed it off at a rally he went to with his motorcycle.)

6  metal sculpture-esque creations :) in Completed Projects by de6w6it on: August 10, 2010 11:29:25 AM
I had made a few metal crafts before I ventured ahead to make the metal robot for my son.  The very first thing I made was a sun/moon/shooting star combo for my wife (abbeeroad), as she loves the sun/moon combo thing.

8  Metal Light Up Robot Project for my son..... in Completed Projects by de6w6it on: June 25, 2010 12:33:31 PM
This is the robot project my wife referenced in her robot birthday thread:

I started out making the head, body, and limbs:

Then I layed it out:

This is the finished welded metal portion:

Then I soldered up some LED's, 2 9 volt batteries and some resistors to a couple switches (which the lil' guy loves!):
