1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / A hand-stitched bracelet! = done! on: June 21, 2010 04:57:54 PM

I don't know if I have gotten ten posts yet to post pictures, so I apologize if you have to click on the links above! Sad

So I was bored one weekend, and instead of getting together with friends or watching a movie, I made this bracelet! I am in the process of doing a package swap with some friends in Australia, and thought cross stitching something for them would be fun, so I created this bracelet as a test run for myself to see if it would work.

The fabric is a canvas/upholstery material from a sampler book that you see in furniture stores! A cool little thrift find from last summer! And then of course, embroidery thread. I tried a small pattern from here: http://www.gancedo.eu/, which has TONS of awesome patterns for edging, and other needle work. All cross stitch. The stitching was difficult since it has NO way of measuring out individual stitches like cross stitch fabric, but I finished it, and sewed it up rather roughly. I just wanted to wear it! So it's not the prettiest finishing job ever.

But you are more than welcome to see this project as I presented it on my blog: http://tarheellassie.blogspot.com/
There are some other fun things there you might like. I plan on making some more bracelets like this. I have one on the embroidery hoop right now!
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Craft blogging? What are your tips and tricks? on: June 21, 2010 02:44:27 PM
I have no idea if there is another topic along these lines. Please forgive me if there is! But I am a blogger of three years, and only have 15 followers. Granted, I have only made a concerted effort in getting active in my blogging habits until the past few months, but I would love to plug into more communities of bloggers! I feel as if I am blogging for myself, and not any one else.

Are there are of you out there who are in my boat? WERE you in my boat? What did you do to gain more friends and commenters? Any tips and tricks? Any you have would be appreciated!
I pretty much stalk and comment on all the blogs I read and admire, so I am trying my best... but it doesn't seem to be working very well. Sad

Help!

3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / You've Got me in Stitches! on: June 21, 2010 02:03:16 PM

I made this over the weekend with leftover scraps of a burlap-type material, more like canvas, and some embroidery thread! My first contribution to the forum! I'm so excited!

What do you think?
