61  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: What are your bad sewing habits? on: June 24, 2010 04:03:57 AM
this thread is dangerous Cheesy

i sewed standing for the first time tonight, it was only 3 seams and i really couldn't be bothered getting the chair (which was, you know, allll the way over on the other side of the room) and geez it kills your back! i'll probably do it again though..

bad habits:
not checking grain
never, ever serviced my machine
speading project through the house, like tonight, i had to make a cherub a hat for tomorrow, well, i didn't HAVE to, but I did  Grin, and there is mess in three different rooms! and it only took half an hour..
hand sewing while on the computer, so it takes 10x as long
measuring once
almost finishing things, then deciding they're not 'right'
not getting around to my mending. more than happy to patch cherubs clothes though, they're just too cute!

and probably far too many others.. Tongue
62  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Re: Stomps! Seriously cool baby shoes on: June 23, 2010 08:13:51 PM
I wish I could make shoes for my 8-month-old. All of the little boy shoes are so sneakery with thick coles, or super expensive, he wears socks all of the time.

oh, agreed, especially when they start walking early and have big feet!

these are fabulous!

Good luck with holiday crafting! I always "plan" things in January but never really follow through for the rest of the year.  I hope it works out better for you!

this year I am determined! (i hope)
I have a few days baby free in the holidays so I should be able to get a good chunk done then, I'm sure the housework won't mind waiting  Wink

hey, i'm Emma, from australia  Grin

I have a 16 month old terror cherub who is a slight hinderance in sewing with pins, scissors and the like but I've just set up a 'space' for me (inside a playpen!) so I can get back into crafting!

I mainly sew, not expertly, but I'm learning. I dabble in paper craft, and can knit (slowly!) no idea how to crochet but i think i should learn.

I'm currently on holidays from uni, so i'm getting a few birthday/christmas projects in before i start again! Planning on crafting most things for christmas this year  Smiley

Big thank you for all the inspiration i've got already!

emma.
