1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: Doctor Who Craftalong 2012 on: April 24, 2012 12:57:55 AM
I made a doctor who backpack for my son's 3rd birthday. The best thing is, of all the things I've made him, this is the one he really loves  Grin
The pattern is Made By Rae's Toddler Backpack pattern, which is awesome, and suprisingly not as difficult as I thought it would be.

4  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / another last minute pirate costume on: February 23, 2012 04:48:15 AM
I made this a few weeks ago the day before DS went to a pirate/mermaid story time at the state library. Luckily my stash is far too big and there were enough pirate-y things tucked away!

The pants are just my favourite basic pants pattern which I then turned the bottoms up on and made the zig zags, did a lot of snipping and topstitched them to hold. They're a bit rough but that's pirates for you Tongue

The vest was from a tute from made which was awesome http://www.danamadeit.com/2008/07/tutorial-pirate-life-costume.html, and we added some pirate-y buttons (cause that's all I had).
He was pretty stoked.
5  CLOTHING / Clothing Sewalongs / Re: Boy Clothes Sewalong on: August 24, 2011 06:45:55 PM
Oh! I'll join!
I have a 2.5 year old boy to sew for, it's just so hard to find something lovely to sew for him.

I have been sewing the board shorts from patterns by figgy's (http://www.patternsbyfiggys.com/2010/05/beach-bum-hoodie-and-board-shorts/) after seeing them on made by rae http://www.made-by-rae.com/2011/06/raindrop-board-shorts/(where they look much cooler), they are lovely! The pattern is a little tricky if you're following it entirely, but I'm mostly making it up Tongue

I will try and post some pictures of the ones I've made.. when I take some pictures..

I have two pairs currently cut out (one for the boy, one as a present) that I aim to finish in the next week. Then about 4 more planned! I really like the pattern.
6  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: Business Name thread - Get opinions and ideas about names for your business! on: March 17, 2011 05:10:34 AM
I like 'edge of insomnia design' lol and I also like your username!

I need help with a business name.
It's basically for a business selling handmade boys/unisex-if-you-don't-like-pink things (first item is exciting but practical pants). Sizes 1 - 4ish at this stage. I'm looking for a name that is boyish, but still has a bit of whimsy, and doesn't tie me into one product or style.

I started with digg.gar, but that was shot down  Tongue which I now agree with. i think.

Other ideas:
duck, duck, digger, goose! - this is my current favourite.
acorn st.
acorn street
Oliver's tractor
Oliver the tractor

and then I'm kinda at a loss.

thanks  Smiley

I'd say cardigan.
Much easier to put on and take off the bubba and when it was cold I would just layer clothes/blankets on DS.
