1  Fantasy creature pumpkins in Halloween Decor and Parties by kimbleshi on: November 01, 2013 03:24:28 PM
Phoenix, unicorn, dragon and hydra. Approx 2 hours to carve each pumpkin - some a little more, some a little less. Phoenix took the longest - all those darn feathers!

The Hydra had 5 heads, all joined at the centre and wrapping around the pumpkin

I'm pleased with my pumpkins this year - just wanted to show them off a bit! I didn't get very many trick or treaters to show them off to...

2  Re: TTTPT Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by kimbleshi on: September 20, 2010 01:51:49 PM
I GOT A DEATH OF RATS!!!! Straight from the Wist! He's Beautiful!  Grin Grin

He's even got a scythe! Adorable! I love his blue eyes!

I also got Uncle Charles - "the Luggage's favourite relative!" On the underside are lots of feet.

You can open him up - ooh quilted effect - and there's a wizard inside.

You close him and open him again and the wizard is gone! It's a really neat flippy thing that I've seen but never understood how it works!
(look at the tongue!)

One last altogether post:

This also shows my lovely letter giving the back story of Uncle Charles who "enjoys a good meal in the company of a wizard with flavour".

Thank you for a brilliant first swap Grin I love everything and Death of Rats is going to be my lucky mascot for when I move!

4  First sewing project: A dress for a ball. in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by kimbleshi on: July 04, 2010 04:25:13 AM
Hi everyone, this is my first ever item of clothing I have made and also the second time using a sewing machine. I decided to make my life incredibly difficult and make the pattern myself. Of course that wasn't insane enough for my liking and I had limited fabric available (Cambridge has no fabric shops other than John Lewis and I'm not rich enough to shop there yet!) so I decided to team the velvet fabric that I had with some T-shirts from Primark...
Lots of people told me it was mad. I agreed. I also ran out of time as I went on a course for the week preceding the ball so ended up finishing the dresss (sort of Roll Eyes) about an hour before it was worn out! I didn't have the time to hem the bottom but luckily the t-shit fabric seems fine without it and the velvelt is also holding up fairly well so far!

All in all I'm immensely pleased by it as lots of people were surprised to find out that I had made it Cheesy and it didn't fall apart at all!

Lessons learnt for next time:
  • Buy a pattern.
  • Buy proper fabric.
  • Have enough time to attempt insane project.
  • Start off by sewing very simple things!!
  • Pins are probably my friends and I should learn how to use them.

Thanks for looking and any advice on pinning is appreciated!
