21  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Looking for shirtwaister and wrap dress patterns on: February 10, 2006 06:06:37 AM
I just finished (except for hemming) the New Look 6429 faux wrap dress and it turned out nice.  It was the first dress I've made and was pretty easy.  Per suggestions at patternreview.com I went down a size and also took the skirt in some so it was more figure flattering.  I'll post a picture once I hem.  I like all the variations they give you with this pattern.

I've also been looking for a shirtdress pattern.  Here's two I've considered that you could alter so it is just a skirt on the bottom without buttons:

Hotpattern Expensive and this is sort of beta.  According to patternreview.com there are often drafting or direction problems since this is a new company.
Fitzpattern Cheap but not as shapely.

Is that a duct tape dressform that I see?  If so, how did you stuff it and do you have any tips on making one?
23  CLOTHING / Sewing Pattern Reviews / Re: 3 differnt dresses from the same pattern on: February 02, 2006 06:34:20 AM
Actually the cowgirl dress is my favorite as far as shape and neckline and pockets(!).  Does the back on that dress look like the back on the sleeved dress?
24  CLOTHING / Sewing Pattern Reviews / Re: Hotpatterns Artful Dodger Swing jacket on: February 02, 2006 06:30:43 AM
Thanks for providing a review.  I hadn't been able to find any reviews or completed project pictures of hotpatterns.com until now.  I'm a little nervous about ordering from there if adequate pictures aren't provided in the instructions.   That's usually how I confirm that I'm understanding the directions.
25  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: One Tiny Thing III Signups December19-Jan 2 Sendout Jan. 15 on: December 21, 2005 07:00:29 AM
I don't have time to do this swap because I'll be on vacation, but I wanted to say that this is a refreshing swap idea because:

1) It's one thing that you're putting a lot of quality work into
2) It allows you to focus on that one thing instead of freaking out and buying/making lots of little junk that isn't your speciality just so you can ship "lots'
3) Shipping and handling will be cheap Smiley
4) I don't know if the feedback is common since I haven't done a swap in awhile, but that is very helpful and descriptive feedback.  I've had partners who don't communicate promptly and it's frustrating because they're still considered "good" swappers.

I hope to see more swaps like this one!

That's a neat idea for reusing a skirt.

28  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Latest News / Re: JULY 14 UPGRADES! on: July 14, 2005 12:50:12 PM
I couldn't get in using Firefox where I'm also always logged in.  It told me to check my cookies.  When I tried to sign in with the correct username and password, it wouldn't let me.  When I clicked on "forgot my password", it told me my username didn't exist.  Kiss

I opened up ms internet explorer and was able to log in and post this.

What do you call that blue rosette?  That's my favorite, although that blue feather looking one is nice too.
