1  Old fashioned wood sled ornaments in CHALLENGE 33 ENTRIES by rsisland on: December 02, 2008 05:33:45 AM
When my kids were younger (around 15 years ago) my Grandfather made them sled ornaments for the Christmas tree. He put their names on the front of the sled and love Grandpa and Grandma on the backs. Each year these are the first ornaments the kids look for (now they are 17 and 20). Sadly, Grandpa passed away earlier this year. I decided to keep up with his tradition of making them for the "new" kids in the family. This year they are going out to our great-nieces and nephews. I used to make them only in red, but decided this year to try out a few different colors.

I made the b & w one for my 4 yr. old nephew and the other for his sister/brother that's due in Dec.  I'm working on a pink and white one for their older (5yr.) sister. I really enjoy working with this pattern. It goes very fast once you get past the first few rows and set the pattern. They look alittle wonky because they are on my untidy bed.  Embarrassed
