21  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / I'm improving. on: December 04, 2006 11:27:50 AM
I'm getting the feel of it. I had issues with too little take up and too much spin, but after an adjustment or two, it's better.

Days 1-3:

And beautiful gray roving:

I wish that I had specific questions to ask, but so far I'm figuring it all out. I haven't tried any of my "good" roving yet and I haven't tried to ply. Those are next. I'm hoping to have  a friend over Thursday night and go from there.

I also need a niddy noddy. Any ideas for a cheap/quick homemade one??

Thanks for the welcome.

22  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Green mittens for my BIL on: November 22, 2006 12:33:39 PM
Another holiday project down-

I finished green acrylic mittens for my brother in law. His hands are huge!

They went quick though. They were done on 2 size 8 circular needles using Utopia yarn.

23  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / What are you working on right now? on: October 18, 2006 11:57:00 AM
What project(s) do you have going on?

I feel like I have too much going on at once and finishing nothing!

I have a sweater for a holiday gift, 2 scarves, and washcloths for my Grandma's birthday. I typically do just 1 project at a time.

Gotta love this time of year.

So, show me your WIP's.

24  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Another question about Fiber Fests on: October 05, 2006 09:27:46 AM
As someone else said, New York's fiber fest is coming up.

I want to buy a wheel. At first I was going to buy used, but now I think I'm going to wait and buy new. Used wheels are so popular that they are selling for only $50 bucks cheaper than new wheels.(Or atleast that's what I'm finding)

So, my question is, at the fiber fests are the wheels at a discount or can I get extras with a purchase that I can't get free from a lys?

Thanks

(I didn't want to hijack another post with this question.)

26  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: First lace shawl- Forest Canopy Shawl on: October 03, 2006 02:29:48 PM
It was a quick knit. Umm, I started it on Sept. 13th and had it done on the 19th. If I wasn't sick it would have been done much quicker.

Thanks again for the compliments. I really worked hard on it.

Check your lys. Mine has old magazines that they still sell. Maybe you can get lucky that way...

It's my first lace shawl. And I think it looks...

Awesome. I love it. If you are interested in knitting lace and you are a beginner this is the perfect pattern for you.

The pattern is from Susan Pierce Lawrence. This is the link to the pattern. http://ma2ut.blogspot.com/2006/09/forest-canopy-shoulder-shawl.html

What a gorgeous sweater that is! I also love the shaped demin jacket on page 57. Stunning!

I, too, got the book from the library.
