152  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / And for my next question- smelly yarn on: February 09, 2005 05:40:03 PM
SO I thought I was getting a great deal at the lys. 40% off 100% silk yarn. Gorgeous yarn. It came in a pack of 9 balls. Enough to actually make something for myself....

Anyways, I got it home, ripped open the bag and for some(freakish, I know) reason I decided to smell it.

It smells yucky. Like almost mildewy. Cry Cry Cry Cry

Can't return it.

How do I clean it?? Should I leave it in the ball and run it through the washing machine on gentle? Will that work?

Help!!!

Thanks!

YAHOO! Betsy emailed back. It's from an old Rebecca magazine. I've never heard of that one. Anyone have old Rebecca magazines lying around that they want to get rid of??

I guess I might be stuck just doing like Lothruin said.

Thanks for your help.

I'm so not a vest person, but that's very pretty. And it has the cables up the shoulders....

Why, oh why won't Betsy just email me back Huh

In my opinon, nothing beats good ol' education.

Sign up for classes. See if there's a yarn shop in your area. Most adult education's have them(cheaper too!). If you go to a couple of classes you have the benefit of a teacher and others around you that knit who can show you first hand what to do. Try to find knitting groups that meet up- like Stitch and Bitch gatherings or a knitters guild. That helps too!

Good luck.

It's so CLOSE! It's a beautiful sweater, isn't it?

The cable continued all the way up the shoulders....

Thank you so much for trying. I've never seen that site before. I'll have to spend some quality time on it!  Grin

I sent Betsy an email, but I haven't heard back from her. Maybe I'll go to the LYS and ask there. They love it when I come in with an "I saw something once" type question!

One girl stated that it was her first time using them and her only complaint was where the size was imprinted in the needles (the yarn was catching a bit for her) but not at the joins.

This happened to me too. I just took a nail file and lightly rubbed that area and voila! No more catching!

BTW, I love these needles.   Smiley

Hi! This is my first time posting on this forum!

I'm looking for a pattern for a tank top. It has a cable running up the center of the tank and at the neckline the cable breaks in half, and one half of the cable continues up each side to the shoulder.

I don't know if I described it well enough.  Undecided

I saw it on Betsy McCall when she was on Knitty Gritty....

Anyone?

Thanks!
