1  Craft Swaps / ACTIVE SWAPS WHERE SIGN-UP PERIOD HAS CLOSED / Re: IYP 26: So you think you can craft? SU closed SO Sept 20, 2014 on: September 15, 2014 12:59:32 PM
Yes, how we suffer for our art!  I tend to push the needle when I embroider or cross-stitch, so I still end up with the fingertip issue... but it keeps me from spending to much time on the computer, since it's my mouse-clicking finger... and my swyping finger for my phone! Ow...ow... ow...

All we can do is hope it's worth it in the end, but... I don't know in this case.  Then again, I tend to not love frustrating and time-consuming projects as much, other people say it's cute, so... O.o I'll trust them more than I will me right now.

Side note: I did actually once bleed on a project I was making for a swap, it involved a needle, and I didn't end up sending it. A bit of hair knitted or crocheted in is one thing, actual blood seems... a bit much.  I didn't realize how hard I'd stabbed myself until I saw little red spots appearing and couldn't figure out what it was from!

I have technically made a start, and I know what I'm doing, but I seriously need to finish up the IYP and movie swaps first!

Almost 8 hours of knitting yesterday, I'm beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel!  The tip of my right index finger is really sore, though, because apparently I push on the tip of the needle in my left hand to scootch the yarn towards the end of the needle... and with smaller needles that tip is rather sharp and pointy... O.o

I'm really hoping I get done in time!

I'm glad people are insterested in pumpkin, I think my FB friends are getting weary of just seeing pumpkin pumpkin pumpkin (craft) pumpkin pumpkin from me!  Smiley

Pumpkin all the Things Week 3 - Pumpkin Latte! We went from annoyingly sticky and hot to quite crisp and cool in the space of a few days, so it's time for a warm drink...

Recipe is here

Okay, this is one of the few times I have to admit, fresh is not better. Add the step of "straining your latte" if you're using real pumpkin, unless you have an uber-blender and get it really, really smooth. Latte with strings of pumpkin is just weird. But I did strain it, and it was... okay? I like pumpkin, and I like coffee, but... honestly, I think there are better combinations out there. Not bad, and I did finish it, but... I'd rather have a mocha latte!

Spent three hours on a small last night and it's done!  I have one more thing to do...  probably tomorrow night.  I might even finish everything up this weekend!  Fingers crossed!

Oh goodness, I haven't checked in here in forever!  Sorry swap partners, I haven't forgotten about you!  Almost everything is done, unfortunately, still working on one big thing, I just... I've not been motivated to work on it lately.  Hopefully I can get it done this weekend!

I'm pretty pleased with how most everything else has turned out, I'm taking my stuff over to a friend's house to have her give it a once-over and either the thumbs up or down!
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Summer Nerd Games 2014 Swap on: September 11, 2014 06:49:56 PM
Everything is amazing, but I have a soft spot in my heart for the little soot guys... Cheesy

So many amazing things already, I'm slacking on commenting but I'm ... a little more than overwhelmed by swap projects at the moment.  I may have bitten off more than I can chew...  O.o   (It's also that I haven't finished my costume for October 4th, and I got a stand-up desk at work and I'm so much more tired!  Argh!  But I WILL get it all done!)

Prompt: September - Solitaire
Team: Textbook
Bonus Points: n/a
Project Name: Spider Hugs
Brief Description: Paper and colored pencils, all ex-tree products!  There's a story behind this picture, it has to do with this Facebook post:

"What do you do when you come out of the grocery store (Hen House, naturally, I'm still bitter) and see a spider scuttle under the driver's side door handle of your car? I sucked it up and just opened the door (it was a little jumping spider), but between this, the giant spider on the keyboard tray, the spider that wove a giant web while I was at Cryssoleil's in the hope of catching me as I left (I went out through the garage because she spotted it and saved me), and the car full of baby spiders... I'm beginning to think they have something against me."

Cryssoleil replied that "Maybe they love you and can't resist showing you how much they wanna be with you." ...and this picture was born...

Prompt: September - Mob: Game of Life
Team: Textbook
Bonus Points: UFO!
Project Name: Spider Hugs
Brief Description:  I love these shopping bags, but I hate making them.  They take a freakishly long time for how easy they are, and I always get partway through and just can't finish them.  Well, I was sewing and I told myself I had to get a few done (there are still ... four? five? in various stares of being done) and after a few hours I'd finished two big ones and a little one to carry them in when I go to the grocery store (a shopping bag bag?).
