21  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / LOTR inspired project bag on: October 09, 2010 02:52:38 AM
I made this project bag for a Ravelry friend who loves The Lord Of the Rings.
I found the design for sweat pea leaves in a Golden Hands book from the 70s and according to a translation website, the runes at the bottom spell out the word peace.
It took a weekend to make, cotton on calico. I used mainly running stitch and chain stitch.

22  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Warming Elephant on: October 09, 2010 02:48:49 AM
I made this microwaveable heat pack for my son on the weekend.
I didn't use a pattern, just free hand drew an elephant and filled the inside of the elephant with rice.

23  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Kilt to Kawai on: September 06, 2010 01:37:41 AM
A couple of weeks ago I changed this second hand kilt that was too small into an A-line skirt with applique on the front. Unpicking all the pleats was quite a challenge!
The skirt comes to just below my knee so I can wear knee-high socks with it, and I lined the inside with an old cotton table cloth as I find the pure wool cloth quite scratchy.
Sorry about the full length shot - I'm still working out how to take photos in the mirror, I promise my legs are normal length, not teeny weeny!

24  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Jeans-Skirt recon on: August 15, 2010 01:48:47 AM
I finished this skirt on Friday night, just in time to go look for snow in the Brindabella Mountains.
It is very comfortable, I think I will make a variety of them!
25  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / RRR Challenge #1 Star wars skirt on: July 07, 2010 01:46:40 AM
I found this Star Wars duvet cover at a regional fund raising market, and was astonished that no-one else wanted it!
It is vintage 1983 Return of the Jedi. I decided to make a full circle knee-length skirt. It is lined with  blue cotton.
Only after I made it did I realise that it has a fair few stains on it, but the drape of the skirt hides most of them.

26  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 52 ENTRIES / 50s style green dress on: July 04, 2010 03:18:44 AM
I love the shape of those 1950's dresses, and I thought that the print of the sheet would match the style well. I used brown bias binding so I wouldn't look like a lizard woman when wearing it, and added 2 yo-yo flowers to add interest to the bottom part.

The body was a bit too big, so I added elastic through the binding at the back to give the top some shape.

Thanks for looking and thanks to the mods for organising!
