Wow!  These packages are so cool!  I got word that the package rubies_pearls made for me was sent today and I can't wait to see it!

I also sent for MommytheMaid today and I hope she gets it soon and likes it Smiley

This is such a great swap!

One idea -- old jeans can be donated and made into insulation for housing and automotives.

Thank you!  It seems to be an all-around favorite.
314  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Baby blankets! on: September 01, 2010 05:30:25 PM
So, I finally got back into crochet after years of hiatus (learned when I was about 10, I made a hideous scarf).  My first big projects, then, were baby blankets!  I have three so far, and am working on more.

This is a pink one that came out more rectangular than square...

And an uber-soft blue one made from Bernat baby yarn, trimmed in that sparkly yarn that is impossible to work with.  But!  I managed it.

And my absolute favorite.  Instead of making a bunch of little granny squares and sewing them together, I just kept making the first one bigger and bigger and bigger.  It's a little over 3'x3' I think.  Everyone says it looks like cotton candy.  I really hope I can find more skeins in these colors because I love them.

Unfortunately I don't have any action shots, but thanks for looking Cheesy

If you're in the Baltimore area, try the free store:  www.freestorebaltimore.org

They're only open for shopping certain days, which they have listed on the website.  I'm going to try to make a trip there on Sept 11th and find old clothes to repurpose.

I like this idea!  I think it's got potential for everyone to make and receive some really cool stuff Smiley

Awesome pattern and great colors!  A friend of mine is getting married in October and I'm planning on making some washcloths like these for her bridal shower.  Cheesy
319  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re: Facebook Fan Pages on: August 27, 2010 09:25:22 AM
One of the first advertising bits I did after I opened my shop was to get a Facebook fan page.  Almost everyone I know uses it regularly, so I suggested it to all my friends and then had my mother and my fiance suggest it to everyone they knew.  A couple likes so far, but no sales.  I confess I'm not completely sure how to effectively utilize it.  Any hints/ideas/tips?

True...I didn't think about the afghan sitting on my bed that gets trampled by the dogs every time we bring them inside...
