2  Re: Share your Mess...Then let's clean it up! in Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions by pastiche on: August 10, 2006 07:15:50 PM
ok. i've been following this since it started and i'm happy to report i got off my butt and cleaned my mess today!! here's some background. i started sewing about a year and a half ago while i was living in a 2 bedroom apt with my bf. the second br was devoted to sewing/computer stuff. i've always been into the visual arts; i have an art degree, so i have a ton of paint, collage materials, photo stuff, etc. most of that stuff is in storage now because i've really fallen in love with sewing. ok. anyway, i moved back home last summer and my sewing stash just kept growing. we have a spare bedroom where i housed my sewing machine and fabric, etc, plus 3 pieces of furniture from my apt, a treadmill (the p's) and some kind of exercise machine (also the p's). so i have half of the room, which isn't very big to begin with. now onto the before pics.

this is what you see from the doorway. i intentionally left out the exercise half.

here's a close-up of some of my fabric stash and some bin thing i thought was a good idea, but i just couldn't get it to work!

here's one of my ikea cabinets that pretty much is full of junk. along with a bunch of bags from my pre-sewing days ( i was handbag obsessed.) that i can't seem to get rid of.

ok. and the AFTER:
again, the view from the door. which is different because i rearranged and added a cabinet i found in the crawlspace.

another angle. this shows my awesome pegboard idea that i stole from tina sparkles. i thought it was such an awesome idea, but i don't know what to put on it! so right now it just holds my thread thing and some scissors. i've had this since december. i'm horrible! the white cabinet is from the crawlspace. i originally thought i would fold my fabric and put it on the shelves, but the more i thought about it, the more i thought it would end up in a pile on the floor if i did that! i bought the mini ironing board at target and put it on top. it sure beats ironing on the floor like i've been doing! the ironing board came with a little hamper that's on the right side of the shelving. i thought that would be a good place for scraps. oooo. and the silver drawer thingie. i love this. i have a drawer for zippers, ribbon, buttons, strap stuff, patterns, etc.  oh and i stole the bins from the thing that was there before and took out the wood stand. i figure i'll use the bins for something eventually.

and, finally the ikea cabinet.  i put my bulkier fabric in here. some vinyl, batting, all my knit jersey, some t's for recons. the bottom shelf holds 3 bins with shrinky dink stuff, paint, some various jewelry things and the box underneath is my screenprinting kit that i haven't touched!!!!!

i'm sooo glad it's finished. now i just need to figure out what to do with all this fabric i don't want anymore. anyone?

3  Re: RED Hair dye in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by pastiche on: December 04, 2005 08:15:41 AM
oh how i miss my red hair! i made the awful mistake of dying it black over the summer.  Sad

my natural hair color is a light brown.
this is what i would always use for my red.
i'm not sure what kind of red you're looking for.
it doesn't look very red on the package.
it's feria and the name is chocolate cherry.

and this is what it looks like on my hair:

i apologize for the myspacey pic.

4  a couple of clutches and a shoulder bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by pastiche on: November 25, 2005 06:38:44 PM
my most recent attempt with vinyl. i've been practicing my vinyl sewing! i was scared at first, but i like how this came out. i dont' really like the flowers, but i only had the 2 colors. i love the remnant bin!!!

and the inside. excuse my sharpie marks. hopefully they will fade over time!

a lacey clutch i've been using to death. (that's why i needed the vinyl one!) and a frame coin purse. i still can't get these right!!!

and a bag made out of an $80 skirt that i had to have and of course, never wore! i liked the idea better than the final product. oh well.

thanks for looking!

5  Glass Marble Snowflake Ornaments!!! in Winter Holidays by pastiche on: November 25, 2005 06:32:22 PM
so i tried the beaded snowflake tutorial. i couldn't come up with anything i liked using the beads i already had. and i wasn't about to go buy some others. this is going to be a low cost holiday! i have a TON of these glass marbles hanging around, so i started playing around and came up with this!

6  Re: stripes, polka-dots and flowers! pillow sham to skirt - first post! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by pastiche on: August 06, 2005 08:57:32 AM
I think I need to steal this from you. While long shirts aren't flattering on me (I'm 5 foot 1,how much shorter do I need to look?) I LOVE LOVE LOVE the pattern w/ the bright colors & all.........SO cute!

thanks everyone!!

bluejeanbaby. i'm posting a full body shot of the skirt because it's really not that long. it comes just below my knees. i'm also 5'1, so i know what you're saying. i don't wear short skirts though because i have leg issues!! this pic kinda sucks; it's blurry and not very flattering, but i just want to show you the length.

7  stripes, polka-dots and flowers! pillow sham to skirt - first post! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by pastiche on: August 03, 2005 07:23:06 PM
ok. so i've been lurking for months. i've been inspired by everything on this site. i  thank everyone for getting me out of my creative rut..i've only been sewing for a few months. i started with bags and have moved to skirts these days. here's my second skirt. i made it out of a pillow sham and some lace. i pretty much took the whole thing apart and then put it back together to fit me the way i wanted. i used part of a t-shirt for the waist. i haven't tried zippers in skirts yet. next project, i'm sure, since i keep forgetting to measure my hips..this was a little snug to pull on. but i like it. yay!

and on me. not the greatest angle.

8  Re: come one! come all! post pics of your tattoos! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by pastiche on: July 14, 2005 11:15:26 AM
oooooo! tim is the best EVER. i got my first tattoo in december from him. and i plan on getting more. my bf has 2 sleeves (one in progress) and a chest piece also from tim. he will not go anywhere else. i'll try to post some pics of mine.the pics are kinda similar, but you can see a little bit more in each. the flowers kinda wrap around my shoulder and go down to almost my elbow. if you want to see what tim has done to my bf you can click on my myspace link at the bottom and then find eric. he has some really nice work. all of his own ideas. tim is insane. i love him.
