oh bless you. Thats so mean of her, I wouldn't take that as an insult to your work though. Take it on board accept it and move on. Its so difficult when you put so much effort and heart into something only to be knocked back though.
I was reconstructing a dress that I was pretty pleased with and then this girl I had never met before came INTO MY HOUSE and started insulting me, she then looked at my dummy, demanded I swap with her, then noticed the dress burst out laughing and said ' oh I don't mean to sound patronising but thats really good!' I nearly punched her there and then but as she is my good friends girlfriend I had to just smile and take it ALL NIGHT.
I couldn't look at the dress to finish it for a few days because she was so mean to me.
But then I decided to just finish it, I started to get a really lovely response to it and felt instantly better and have the confidence to continue learning!
I guess what I am trying to say is that your mum was probably hypnotised by the lunatics lantern (er sorry that's what I call TV!) so bad that she didn't even realise how she hurt you. I bet its a beautiful thing you made her and she should be slightly more appreciative of you! - next time she shows you a new cross stitch just return the favour of indifference and I guarantee you she won't be so cold about your creations again!
She may even be jealous that you are good at this. who knows, but don't let it get you down- if a bunch of strangers like you and what you make then that's a much bigger compliment than from friends and family anyway!
I will stop babbling now but cheer up chickadee!
