1  COOKING / Dessert / Re: booby cake! on: April 16, 2007 12:43:40 PM
I was inspired by this cake a long time ago and didn't have an excuse to make it until now. Thought I'd share the results. Funny enough, we ended up running out of letters to spell what we originally conceived and actually used the this poster's fab wording (all the way down to the 'eva'....they really just don't give you enough e's to work with). Thanks so much! Hope you don't mind your brilliance was recreated here in Austin!

-BTW, Pyrex bowls work like a charm to create the boobs.-

3  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Jager Nurse Needs an Evil Manly Idea on: October 16, 2006 11:04:46 AM
So, this Halloween I'm going to be a Jager nurse. Instead of white with red accents my outfit is black with orange accents (ala the Jager bottle). The symbol for Jager is perfect and I'll be using that in place of the traditional first aid cross on my hat, apron, etc. I also have 60 cc syringes to administer Jager 'shots' all evening as well as a saline bag with IV I'll be rolling around filled with, you got it, Jager. My dilemma is getting my boyfriend a equally kick ass and themed costume and I know you, dear craftsters, have brilliant ideas. Shower me. I was thinking maybe something like an evil doctor (Dr. Sauza perhaps?). He could carry a tray with syringes, limes and tequila...and if you're wondering why the emphasis on liquor, I'm a bartender and will be working on Halloween. We're also lushes so it works well for us. Smiley

4  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Empanada Fillings? on: June 13, 2006 02:12:39 PM
You mentioned making pumpking empanadas and it reminded me of some savory sweet potato ones we made not too long ago. We boiled, then mashed the sweet potatoes with lime juice, roasted jalapenos, salt and black pepper to taste. They were very tasty.

Oooh,  great suggestions! Thank you. I especially like the idea of naming everything around the house bot names. Thank you. You inspired my creative juices.

9  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: What to do with avocado? on: April 15, 2006 06:38:15 PM
Whip up a frozen margarita...a little sweeter than usual (we use a good fresh oj). At the end when you throw in the ice add 1/2 an avocado for something different, blend until smooth. We have a local joint that has legendary avocado margaritas and they aren't hard to recreate at home. Perfect for a summer day.
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Potty Mouth Swap on: April 11, 2006 02:08:29 PM
I looked back through the thread and this book hadn't been mentioned so I thought I'd do the honors of introducing my favorite stocking stuffer, "Fuck this Book." Maybe be a good jump-off point for some of you swappers.
