In this swap you'll send your partner either 2 couch pillow-sized covers (20"x20" or less) or 1 large pillow cover (more than 20" square). The covers can be sewn, crocheted, etc. Since we won't be sending the pillows themselves, shipping will be a lot cheaper.

I'd be happy to organize, if that's all right with you, Alchamy. I've been really looking forward to this swap, it's such a great idea!

How about sign-ups starting today and running for 2 weeks until the 20th then 4 weeks of crafting time?
1694  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / I'm bored...I'll make a dress! on: June 05, 2011 04:58:06 PM
I finished my assignments in fashion class so I had a free day. I took the opportunity to make this dress:

I made my own pattern. The top part is basically a peasant blouse and the skirt part is an A-line that reaches to just above my knee. In between is an elastic waistline. I've been having lots of fun trying it on dressed up and down. It is so pretty and comfy I want to wear it all the time! Next up: more of this in different fabrics  Smiley

Neat! And nice job making it work! I'd love to see the back and shoulders...
1696  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: T-shirt to yoga pants- Question about stitching on: June 05, 2011 02:37:31 PM
Cool! Did you come up with the pattern or use a tutorial?

You didn't say where the thread breaks, but I'm assuming that it is because of the stretch of the fabric and not stress on the fabric (like the crotch area-for that I'd do a zig-zag over the straight stitch or sew over the straight stitch with another).

You will find many answers out there about which is the best, but I use a straight stitch, a narrow zig-zag, a serger or overlock machine depending on the area and the effect wanted, or a twin needle. I sometimes have to stablize the seams as well. I'd test on a leftover scrap to find which one works best  Smiley
1697  Washington / Washington: West / Tacoma area fabric stores? on: June 05, 2011 10:05:09 AM
I'd love to hear your reviews on stores south of Seattle and north of Portland.

Since the Puyallup Pac. Fab. (AKA Pacific Fabrics) closed, I'm having a harder time getting fabrics for clothing. I know there are a lot of quilting stores in the area and Hancock's, JoAnn's and thrift stores but I'd like to expand my options.

Do you know of any? Ready...Steady...Go!  Smiley

I got my inchies and ATC from Opalgryphon today! They are, well, words can not describe their awesomeness so here are the pics:

A be-a-u-tiful flamingo set

Inchies with pictures labeled, if I'm not mistaken, in the Русский язык! I'm still a beginner in Russian so please correct me if I'm wrong. The labels are stunning and the backgrounds are perfect!

And would you believe it?

Maxwell Smart, Secret Agent 86! Perfect! How on earth did you do that picture, Opalgryphon?

What a just plain WOW package! Thank you, Opalgryphon!
