Bonus Points: Engineering
Project Name: creamsicicle-y pops take 1
Project Link: (if available)
Brief Description: Roler gave me this idea when I made my orange syrup. This trial of creamsicicle-y pops tasted good, but wasn't very creamsicicle-y. Here's what I tried:
Chilled reusable (reusable=green!), plastic popsicle forms then brushed them with orange syrup. Put back in freezer for hours. Repeated because most of the syrup didn't stick to the sides at all and there was a little pool at the bottom. I didn't even know that much had gone off the brush!
Softened vanilla ice cream in the fridge for 30 minutes. Packed into the popsicle forms. Stuffed popsicle stick in. Froze overnight.
Ran form under hot water briefly (just the plastic part) and slowly, carefully slipped out the pop. Bit into it. Appreciated the orange icy-ness on the outside (and top) but was not reminded of a creamsicicle's texture.

Event: Craftology (does including the plastic stick count?)
Bonus Points: Engineering
Project Name: creamsicicle-y pops take 2
Project Link: (if available)
Brief Description: Round 2 wasn't really any more creamsicicle-y, but I haven't had a chocolate-dipped anything in forever (thanks a bunch, migraines) so it made me very, very happy!
Vanilla ice cream
1/4 + orange syrup
1/4 cup white chocolate chips (tollhouse's don't have cocoa in them)
1/4 cup coconut oil

Soften ice cream as in 1st recipe.
Mix ice cream with a drizzling of syrup.
Fill paper cups with syruped ice cream. Popsicle stick them. Freeze overnight.
Mix 1/4 cup syrup, chocolate chips and coconut oil by zapping them in a microwave together for 15 seconds at at time, stirring in between zaps. Let cool.
One at a time cut and peel paper cups off of the pops like in this tutorial. Dip in the orange/white chocolate syrup. Let the coating harden then either dip once or twice more or rewrap in the peeled paper right away and replace in the freezer until you're ready to eat. Repeat with the others.
Take a bite. Yeah, not that creamsicicle-y texture, but still good! I really want to try this with other syrup flavors. I'm thinking lemon, lime, strawberry, raspberry...
