31  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / K-9/TARDIS reversible bag on: November 15, 2010 10:55:07 AM
I'm such a geek!

so... all warmed up for the Dr Who Swap!!

ALL the fabric used here is upcycled, the white floral stuff was a duvet cover I got for free from a carboot sale and the funky 70's brown stuff also came from a carboot sale, and it's a curtain :-) I'm MAD paying 1 for a single curtain but I loved the pattern... I thought I might make a skirt out of it but there wasn't really enough.... also I thin that the whole 70's theme goes with the subject matter :-)

I like it, it's geeky and girly and upcycled... and a handbag!!! my 4 favourite things!!!

I know, I know, get on with the pictures!

It's a modifiaction on very purple person's reversible bag pattern and there's a video on my blog detailing how to add the pocket etc... I've also uploaded my TARDIS and K-9 applique templates on my blog which you're welcome to have...

32  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Kawaii Chubby Bow Bag on: November 07, 2010 03:22:58 AM
I made this cute little shoulder bag out of a turtleneck jumper!! The lining is a pillowcase, and guess how much I paid for them?? NOTHING!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA H

I picked up both free from a car-boot seller who wanted to go home, the jumper was ruined because someone had tumble dried it, it was supposed to be size 10 but looked like it would only fit a 3 year old.

less talk, more pictures!!

33  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Hand Embroidered Patch on: October 26, 2010 03:03:26 PM
So this is my first foray into embroidery, it's really basic, just backstitch on muslin... I didn't really know what to do with it so I made it into a patch for my jeans...

geek much?! :-)

hey craftsters!

I used the Ute bouse pattern as a base for the top. http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/ute--2.

I did intend to maje it with sleeves (even cut them out and interfaced the cuffs and everything) but I ended up omitting these because it has been REALLY hot in the UK for the last week or so and I really wanted the dress to be finished ASAP.

Then I used Grosgrain's tutorial (http://grosgrainfabulous.blogspot.com/2010/05/mamas-gonna-buy-you-mockingbird.html)on turning a blouse into a dress ... I could just simply cut off all the pattern pieces at the waist add a circle skirt! ET VOILA!

Originally I'd planned to make a longer circle skirt by adding panels ot the bottom... but again! it was hot and I was impatient!

also ANOTHER cool thing about this dress.. the 'button' closure? PRESS STUDS! from the bottom of the duvet cover! upcycling FTW!!

Also, that bias trim :-) I MADE IT! ... that took a while... but I've got loads left! It's the first time I used bias biding, it's not that tidy, but not many people are looking at my arm-holes! ;-)

I'm very proud of this :-) I love this dress :-) hope you feel the same!
