31  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Sew Tiny Box on: February 08, 2011 08:09:13 PM
I'm participating and co-organizing in the latest Matchbox swap and have had such a blast!  I was partnered with the lovely and talented jennieingram  (yup, gotta admit i was a little intimidated!)  she mentioned liking sewing related things and this is what I came up with!

I started with a bargain brand matchbox, wrapped in this strange textured paper I found at the craft store. (big spender moment for me, I spent a whole dollar on one single sheet of paper Wink)  This was a rare occasion for me, I usually fuss and fret with things for a really long time before I have my "Thats it!" moment...no such thing with this one, it all just seemed to fall together.  The next thing I did (which is barely noticeable in the photo but I thought looked so cool in person) was cover the paper with Distress crackle paint, which is probably one of my favorite products on the market right now.  It created this lovely look of worn out leather...well I just piled all the other elements on after that, really trying to use things that are common and wonderful in fashion.  Vintage button, black lace, rusty chain, ribbon and what every girl needs (besides diamonds of course) pearls!   Quick shot of the back to show how perfectly the lace ended up fitting around the box (complete luck, not much of a measurer!):

This is one of my favorite projects of mine, ever.  Thanks for looking!

32  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / TARDIS gets christmas-y on: December 27, 2010 01:43:46 PM
i've been itchin to crochet a TARDIS for quite some time for the hubby and found this great pattern!  http://pixelatedmushroom.blogspot.com/2009/12/tardis-for-your-christmas-tree.html  it felt like it needed to be a lil more wintery so i added a snowy top, also inserted cardboard into the the top and sides to make it stiffer since i tend to crochet pretty loosely!

thanks for looking and happy holidays!

this bracelet was a gift for my nieces 10th birthday, so to fit her tiny wrist it is only 5 inches long!  the center charm reads "rule yourself"

38  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / First Hat on: September 12, 2010 09:00:43 AM
ok not exactly the first hat i've ever made, but it's the first hat i've made without a pattern!  i was originally making it for babygirl but she was stubborn and wouldn't let me use her head for sizing that day (stinker!) so it became a larger hat, more appropriate for a tween or teen i think.  its made with Loops and Threads Charisma, very nice, soft, chunky yarn.

c&c welcome and thanks for looking Smiley
