i received some awesome magic yarn balls from the lovely Ma Rut!

some super lush organic cotton yarn (can't wait to make something for myself with that!) and some orange red heart for making my babygirl some ami carrots Smiley

adorable owl and woodland critter buttons, also some washi tape and a gorgeous owl necklace, featuring hand set crystal eyes!

but wait, there's more!  hoopla pin cushion!  this has been on my wish list for a long time, and i love the fabric!

also some great beads, and check out the cool frog pendant and the little glasses!

and finally, my favoritest thing ever, SPIDEY SKIRT!!!!  so excited about this!  fits perfect (sorry for the lack of action shot!) and will be a wardrobe staple!  only wish i'd had it for Denver ComicCon this year Cheesy

thanks so much Ma Rut!  i had a blast swapping with you!

16  Sleepy Kitty in Needlework: Completed Projects by spidermom on: August 06, 2013 08:32:15 AM
just wrapped the One Fab Zippered Pouch swap and stitched this sleepy guy for my partner Craftineer.  please excuse the photo overload, i'm so darn proud of this project!  the pattern was a freebie from http://starshapedandshiny.blogspot.com

this was a blast for me, experimenting with different type of stitches for filling.

i used several different books for reference and ideas, my favorite being a book called "Creative Needlework" that was published in 1969 that i picked up at the thrift store for a whopping 29 cents!

my original plan was to make it super colorful, but decided to go with shades of blue, my partners favorite.

and one more of the finished pouch, which measured a little over 5x5 inches

thanks for looking Smiley

17  Baby Giraffe! in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by spidermom on: August 04, 2013 09:27:19 AM
i made this little guy for the recent Amigurumi Addiction swap.
the pattern is from a fun book i found at my local book store called "Voodoo Maggie's Adorable Amigurumi"  by Erin Clark. this bugger was actually quite challenging for me!

i'm glad it was difficult though, because now i feel like i've learned a lot about shaping and assembly that i didn't know before!

thanks for looking Smiley

the baby giraffe pattern came from the book VooDoo Maggie's Adorable Amigurumi and was actually quite a challenge to pull together!  i'm so happy with the way he turned out!!!
